Thanks for the condolences, but they play here several times a year anyway, so I'll be fine. Plus I'm hearing reports that the show is only open to students and faculty of St. Edward's, another university in town, meaning orange bloods wouldn't be able to get in anyway.

So I can't decide what to do in regards to ultra fancy editions of the album. It seems Best Buy will only be selling the 2 cheaper fancy versions, not the most expensive DVD having fancy version. I don't know if I need the DVD or not. Realistically, I probably don't need any of the deluxe versions, but as I'm a sucker for Shuttlecock collecting, I know I'll splurge. What do ya'll recommend? Buy one of the cheaper versions at Best Buy tomorrow, or purchase the box set off of Amazon?

I still want to murder your friend, as they sound like a douche. infoz pleez

Buy the vinyl.

Of course, it all kind of depends on how strongly you care or don't care for the album. If you think that you'll get your money's worth, then splurge; if not, then don't. The best strategy (vinyl notwithstanding) would be to wait and see. You may not agree with me, but once I get my freakishly under-priced deluxe version, I'd be more than happy to lay out in excruciating detail just what I think of it all, and whether or not I think it's worth your scratch.

Amazon.co.uk is selling the magazine edition for £9 if you want that

I may just do that (we'll see if I have the will power to hold off or not tomorrow). It's sad how few deluxe editions out there are truly worth the money.

I'd argue for them as well, even over Okkervil River. The National is my vote for best band of the decade, as I've said in the past. I'm not talking about being a better live band though. I'm saying who's been better the past decade? Take what Shuttlecock's been up to during the lifespan of Okk and the National and weigh it against what they came up with. It simply doesn't compare.

It does. It's the third time I've been screwed out of seeing the same band by the same individual.

I'll never ever judge a band without taking into consideration how good, bad or otherwise they are Live.

That being said, I'll take Okkervil's output and the National's output over the last 3 U2 albums, sure....but, I do like NLOTH a whole hell of a lot, definitely a lot more than ATYLCB and HTDAAB.

I agree how they are live should be taken into consideration, but I was merely commenting on the output of the three bands. That being said, I've been just as captivated at the two National shows I've seen as I was at the one Shuttlecock. Better setlists too.

I like No Net more than the previous two as well. But that's like saying I like being punched in the chest better than the ear or dick.

Have you ever been cock punched?

I've listened to How to Manhandle an Atomic Serve. So yes.

I might not be the best source for things like this since I'm evidently the only one here who thinks "Swing" is a pile of shit.

Are Shouter and I the only ones on record as disliking the album?

Disliking HTDAAB? Not sure. I'm not a huge fan, but, certainly do not dislike it. Laz defends it. Forget where everyone else stands.

Does Imperor need to move to the top of the list?

By "Swing," I of course meant the song where Boner talks about not buying shuttlecockatoos. I don't get the praise for that one and I thought it sounded even worse live. I also think "Stand Up Referee" is worse than many of the shittier songs on Atomic Serve (I'm looking in your direction, "Cockweh").

Like I previously said, I really dig "Courts of Lebanon." And I really like the verses of the title track while wishing its chorus wasn't so lousy.

You referenced Swing, but then mentioned disliking the album, so I got confused.

I think Breathe is fantastic, but that's just me.

That being said, Stand up Comedy is the one song that gets worse and worse for me with each listen.

The album I meant not liking is the new one. I feel like I'm in the VAST MINORITY.

Yeah, I fucking understand that now, Detlef.

And, who gives a shit if you are in the minority? You don't like it, simple as that. You even probably wanted to/tried to like it. Life goes on.

I've given up on fancy-pants editions. They don't fit in the shelf, and I never look at all the extra crap anyway. Give me bonus tracks/extra music, or I ain't buyin' the fancy-pants edition.

 They always disappoint. I'm not into collecting just to collect anymore. I don't get all the writers I meet through work to sign my books, and I don't collect fancy pants editions no more, unless it's generally agreed-upon to be something very special.

Stand Up Cock is definitely worse than anything on Atomic Serve. Of course, I love Cockweh (the music moreso than the lyrics) so maybe I'm not very objective. I would put SUC above Cock Honey from ATYCLC, though, because that song is fucking generic and should have been a b-side along with Summer Racquet.

But I can't totally hate SUC because I like some of the Beatlesque flourishes on it. I'd certainly rather have it on the album than Cock in the Skies.

I don't get the dislike for Stand Up Referee. I think it's fun for what it is. It's lyrics are stupid, but so are pretty much all the lyrics. I think it's fun.

I'd take it over most of Atomic Serve.

I don't give a shit, moron, I was just interested to see if there were any like minded Cocketeers.

Who wants dibs on Part XI? Come up with a good name.
