I'd just like to point out here that the last time a new song consistently opened the first encore was Discotheque on Popmart. It's been quite rare since. It happened just once on Elevation, and it may be that I'm very tired and having trouble penetrating the fog shrouding my memory, but I can't think of a single time it happened on Vertigo.

(Now, the second encore, that's different. We're likely all familiar with ABOY holding that slot for the majority of Vertigo shows in 2005, for instance.)

At least they're a bit different to the usual fare. I'll take it over a dull lacklustre classic that the band don't really feel like performing.

Maybe the classics won't be "dull lacklustre" anymore?

I'm fine with them as long as U2 have really re-worked them and put some energy into the performance. I accept that certain songs just have to be played for the audience. Maybe they're giving us mindblowing new versions. And Streets opening the encore would be fantastic ... I can just picture the atmosphere and energy in the audience when it's starting after the break.
