Just for that, I think I'll go ahead and throw on the last favorite track of theirs (of mine) that I haven't used yet.
 
The first time I ever heard snow patrol, they were covering the undertones' teenage kicks. Yeah it was acoustic, and yeah looking back on it it's got that ultra wimpy sound to it that makes me think it's not just some other band by the same name. It's still a totally a left field choice for a cover, given that they're the same band that did that if I just lie here and forget about the world song. Reminds me I don't know much of anything about the band, although I've always just assumed they were from Northern Ireland if they were covering the Undertones.

Not sure how I feel about advertising in The Other Place. I've always felt that the most interesting part of the competition is the feedback you get, not so much the voting aspects of it. And I'm plenty happy with feedback from the usual B&C crowd.

My only concern is that there won't be enough votes to justify the polling format without some kind of advertisement or push. Feedback on its own is nice and everything, but if there's no competitive aspect...well, we already have a playlist thread (that hardly ever gets used).

If we're going with the DI1 bracket format and people want more time to spotlight each list, I have an idea. Why not make a discussion/listening thread for each match and then make a poll after, say, 3-4 days? It's not one at a time like Nam suggested, but two at a time is pretty close.

Alternatively, if we do a world cup system, we'll just make listening threads for each group like always.

Agreed.

The biggest issue has always been the listening drop-off toward the back-end of the tourney. Chalk it down to listener fatigue, long lists, or a combination of the two.

Are we going to go for streaming lists this time around? There are a few songs in my list that I don't own - I just listen to them via Spotify. If we are allowed to use Spotify playlists, I'm good. Otherwise, I'll probably have to buy the CDs or songs. LM, can we can a rulling on this?
 
Spotify would rule me out. The only streaming service I have is amazon prime and it's not comprehensive whatsoever.
 
But can't you just sign up for Spotify to listen to the playlists? It doesn't cost anything (I don't have a paid account) and you can still listen to the playlists.

I'm happy to use other streaming services if it's easier. I guess soundcloud may be an alternative.
