Hellz no. Same guy who watched some fat chick slip on the ice and faceplant, on the way home from the bars (after urinating on a church), say to her, "Watch out, first step's a doozy," and then eat it even worse than she did. That Batman-related story, though, is one of the finer moments of anybody's life of which I know. Fantastic.

Yeah, I don't actually think that you were lying it was just the first random thought that went through my head when you asked for a comment.

I saw a friend once kneel down during a heated bar argument, take off his sandal, stand up and slap a guy across the face with it and then turn around and report to the crowd that he wouldn't "soil my hand on his greasy face" before turning back around and kicking the shit out of the guy while wearing one shoe.

He was from Utah.

I'll go look for it.

I always forget that he's working on Scott Pilgrim, excited for that as well. Maybe in 10 years there will technology to insert Jesse Eisenberg into every worthwhile Cera project not named Arrested Development or Superbad. On second thought, there might not be a need for that.

Nick Frost as Bebop.

Youth in Revolt would probably benefit from this technique.

Yes, he would make a good spaceship.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!

Good GOD, that is amazing! Wow. I mean...WOW. Awesome. Ha!

Oh, man, that just made my year, man. Thank you for sharing. Unreal. What the hell were they arguing about for it to come to blows/sandals?

Oh I can't remember what the argument was about. This kid's always in a fight. He's a great guy until we start drinking in public. Then he always ends up throwing down.

The only good thing about it is that he's always very poetic during the fights.

So the movie Gods have finally smiled upon me and starting Friday I'll have the following at my various locals:

The Informant!
White Ribbon
Me and Orson Welles
Broken Embraces

With A Serious Man and Where the Wild Things Are the following week. It's most certainly doable.

In TV news, anyone else see last Friday's Comedy Showcase with David Cross' pilot episode? Aired in the UK but it's probably online somewhere. Not too sure what I think about it as a show, but I laughed lots and it's always fun to see GOB and Super Hans pop up.

I'm still waiting for Broken Embraces to come to DC. I'm actually not sure if it even opens in NY and LA until after I'll be going home for winter break anyway. :(

I'm glad it's not that Indian casino project with Jack Nicholson, that's for sure.

Welcome to the Hollywood Elsewhere comment section, Lance.

I was going to make a Hottest Chica-type remark for your benefit, but it wasn't worth the public display of perversion.

It would be lovely if I could bone that, if you get my meaning.

I've commented on a few occasions before.

The CLICK! could probably take the HE talk-backs by storm if we so desired.

I would love to get into a heated argument someday with THE WELLS! but I forget that he's always right.

You should focus your energies instead on dipshits like Travis Crabtree, or chime in on the movement to ban D.Z. I don't know if I've ever wanted to strangle anyone online more than the latter.

I wonder where Prison Jake has been lately.

Is it about time we had a proper 2010 Oscars thread now? National Board of Review winners announced. Not a particular promising way to start out the awards season though. In fact this kind of makes me feel sick.

D.Z. is such an insufferable cocksucker; the best way to get rid of him is just to ignore him. Crabtree and LexG are close on the douchebag totem pole as well.

He shall return more into Oscar season. I had a bunch of problems getting OpenKey to work, but it was before that whole system was fixed.

I can't believe they got on their knees to suck on Clint's knob again. It's ridiculous. I haven't seen any review saying this was some brilliant feat of direction. Whatever. Would it have killed them to give someone like Bigelow a chance for a change?

If Morgan Freeman wins over Jeff Bridges someone's gonna die.

And I was hoping Vera would be getting the supporting actress attention for Up in the Air. Still a good chance they'll both be nominated, as it's not a packed year in that category.

In the end, I can take solace in the Coens screenplay win. Thank god it didn't go to 500 Days.

There's a lot on that list to like: A Serious Man, Hurt Locker, the Indie Films list, Woody Harrelson (though I haven't seen The Messenger), 500 Days of Summer (which I saw again last night), Star Trek (does this mean it's back in the Oscar race?), Basterds!, Wes Anderson.

Then again, how many times do the National Board of Review and Oscars match up in any given year, let alone the Board and Golden Globes?

Also Laz, apparently Actor was tied between Freeman and Clooney; I expect Bridges to come into the fold once Crazy Heart actually hits, since it's seemed to have been thrust almost last-minute into consideration by Fox Searchlight.

Star Trek is NOT, I repeat, is NOT getting in the BP lineup. Maybe editing, maybe music, some other techs. But that's it.

Sherlock Holmes isn't either.

It may seem like a weak year, but it's not that weak.

Also, despite not having my player yet, I just won an ebay auction on an HD-DVD of Galactica Season 1 for like $8 including shipping.

I don't think it will either, same goes for Avatar as well, but it has the best chance out of movies of the same ilk.

I see this year as a considerable upgrade from 2008 in terms of consistency. Sure, it's been dominated by genre films and there's no clear Oscar frontrunner as of late, even if Up in the Air is edging towards that spot, but if the year ended right now, there's a solid list of 20 films I'd be happy to put up with most of this decade. Basterds and A Serious Man are really the only two I'd put up next to something like TDK, Synecdoche, Wall-E, Let the Right One In, The Wrestler, or Benjamin Button, but there's such a steep drop-off after that, and I liked 2008.

Hmm. I'll take Basterds and A Serious Man over any of those 08 films you mentioned. Along with a good number of other things I've seen this year. In fact, 2008 has to be my least favorite year this decade for films. Honestly, Let The Right One In and Che are the only two from the whole year I really took anything particularly memorable away from and would be happy to revisit 5 or 10 years from now.
