U2 in Vegas - Tips for booking hotels, flights and other Vegasy type things.

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
zoo station is just inside the entrance to the grand canal shops off the strip side , but.....nearer to the Palazzo side. From street level there is a big LOVE sign in the lobby. Zoo is right around the right side of the sign.

Find the signs to the casino. Once you're in the casino it's easier to find your way to Palazzo.

Zoo Station is in the atrium between Venetian and Palazzo

That's how I eventually found it, but it was closed to the Vibee 'VIP' s until 5. I'm not a VIP even though I've been a U2 fan since high school and that was a long time ago. Oh well

Here's a gift for your help

If you stand on the rocks, a sphere employee will tell you to get off it.

Yeah, I think I read on the zoo station info page they close on show days for 2 hrs for the vibee people. I went on there to find their hours of operation…

Headache et al, we're headed to start of December gigs from Ireland with the Vibee package (couldn't get ordinary tickets, Vibee the only option really ). Obviously with Vibee we're staying at the Venetian. Just wondered if you had any tips for that regarding any loyalty schemes and upgrade options. Venetian run a Grazie rewards thing and wondered if anyone had any views on whether it is worth joining in advance. You and others had mentioned earlier too about slipping a $20 bill into your passport at check in to hotels and asking if there were any complimentary room upgrades available. Is this an actual thing and is $20 enough, would it work at the Venetian as well?

Is there any point in joining any other reward schemes for other hotels/casinos in advance? Not big gamblers really, but we'll have a go, when in Rome and all that!

Thanks for any tips guys, cheers.

The ole $20 trick certainly does work. I've done it many a time. If it's a crazy busy weekend the worst thing that'll happen is the clerk says no. I will typically get a larger room, higher floor, early check in or late check out fees waived. There are stories of people pulling suites from base room reservations, but I've never experienced that myself.

That said - not sure how successful you'll be considering it's a prepaid room through an outside vendor. But again - worst they can say is no.

Since your room is already booked there's no real reason to sign up for a rewards card in advance other than to save time. Most places allow you to print your card at a kiosk if you're already in the system, or you can give your ID to the pit boss and they'll print it for you.

If you don't have any real intentions on returning to Vegas (or other cities where the major corps have casinos) then maybe you could pass. The main reason to have the card when you play or eat, aside from future comps, would be for backend comps - getting any charges reversed at check out. But that typically requires a fair amount of play. If you're only playing a bit here and there it's unlikely to do much for you.

So yea, long story short - it can't hurt, but the benefit is more for booking in advance and/or for possible return trips.

Headache, much appreciated, thanks so much for your reply

Got a recommendation to head to Alexxas in the Paris for breakfast/brunch, which is meant to be reasonably priced, so we have a reservation there for the Saturday. And also the Beer Park at Paris was mentioned, as well as Able & Baker.

great views from Beer Park. Not sure how the construction for F1 will impact, though. Typically you can see the fountains from up there, but they're probably blocked. Expect to pay a premium since it's literally outside, on the strip and under the fake Eifel Tower.

since we're on overpriced beers with great views - Brew Dog has really great views from their roof top.

Able Baker is off strip in the Arts District - they specialize in IPAs. they're by far my favorite brewery in the area. there's a half dozen or so in the arts district. nice change of pace from the madness of the Strip. i ran out of time on this last trip and didn't get to go, and i've been pissed about it ever since lol

Thanks again Headache, great tips

I would be pissed about missing great beer too!

Wonder when all the Formula 1 stands will come down after the race?

The Virgin is a nice place to stay

Off the strip but a 5-10 minute cab ride to the sphere

Kassi restaurant is incredible

ST Marks sq at the ven is well worth the visit

Self parking is $20/day at the Mirage, even for hotel guests. That's going to be $80 between my brother and me just for parking. Does that sound right? I am used to free parking/valet every other time I've stayed in Vegas.

A lot of places have gotten rid of paid parking unless you have a certain status on your player's card. I thought it might still be free for paying guests at the big places but it changes often, and I never drive. My bad.

Oh it’s not on you man, I was just surprised and wondering if i was interpreting the policy right. It hits us more because it worked best for both of us to drive in separately from out of state. Even so, not a huge deal and is probably similar cost to if we were paying for Uber/taxi’s.

Edit: I just looked it up and MGM properties charge $23/day for parking so looks like it’s in line with what other casinos are doing nowadays.

Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. Ideally less than 1/2 mile (slim pickings?).

well - it's certainly doable provided you're not looking for fancy.

you could try tilted kilt on the linq promenade. they typically have some decent happy hour deals.

if you're willing to stretch out to a mile - blondie's in Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile Shops has a $20 all you can drink happy hour for domestic draughts or well drinks from 3 to 6 Monday through Friday. you're not exactly getting top shelf stuff but beggars can't be choosers, know what i mean?

i'd make look at Treasure Island or at the Fashion Show Mall as well.

there's also the ole' grab some drinks from CVS and just walk the strip - with the no open container laws and all. that's always your cheapest option lol

Tilted Kilt had some really tasty drink--went there in September--don't remember the price but wouldn't mind going back.
CVS/gas station is a great call, of course. Back to Flamingo & Koval! :applaud:

if you're there on a wednsday and really want to get yourself shitfaced before the show - hop down to Blondie's for the 3 to 6 deal - then hop on the Deuce bus outside Paris to avoid the walk. it drops off in front of Venetian.

I have seats on Friday, wouldn't mind a pregame for that. Seems maybe a bit pointless to do before standing in line for GA when it'll wear off before the show...or maybe that means fun line time! Whatever.

Thanks for the Tilted Kilt suggestions, went for some pre-show booze and wings and it was good. Not too expensive and right outside of the hotel.

I'm debating between Horseshoe and Linq: which is better?

Linq is a bit more, but its also a little closer to the Sphere. Also, I think the monorail stop is there as well (not to mention the promenade, etc).

Linq is much newer. Didn't stay there (stayed at Harrah's) but spent some time there as they are connected, I liked it, just can't speak to the rooms.
