These new 2011 tour rumours look promising in terms of wrapping up the whole tour at a triumphant Glastonbury headline slot! I shall start the dreaming now!

And I'll start dreaming of managing to get tickets TWO years running. There should be some special arrangement for this years glasto goers getting preference on next years festival (should U2 play). I'm going because U2 are there first and foremost, and them cancelling glasto works out the same for me as the fans who were going to the NA shows. If their tickets are good for the "reschedule", maybe mine will have some sort of leniency?

Dear Bono, Now that you have all spring/summer/fall for just North America next year, please please please add a Pittsburgh show. We have 2 new-ish stadiums and will have a brand new arena (sadly) by then!!! Thanks:hyper::D

He reads interference every day right?

Yes please! That would be the best thing to happen in Heinz Field after the crappy football season we're gonna have.

Nothing tops the 90F temps that Tampa got in October last fall...it was over 100F on that metal floor in GA! (Normally Tampa is in the 60F-70F range that time of year...)

 I am so happy I missed that gig and was in London instead. My friend and his friend (who I sold my ticket to) were there and he told me the same thing. They were miserable. Maybe it is a good idea Miami has been postponed.

Sadly there is no realistic way in which they could enforce this as everyone would be claiming they wanted to see u2 in order to help them get tickets next time.

It just adds weight to what I was saying about it being us who kinda have the worst deal, cos everyone with a ticket to a postponed gig will get that reorganised for them to potentially attend, whereas we won't, which is especially hard since it doesn't look like they'll be coming back to the UK in 2011. But then on the positive side, we still have an awesome weekend of music to enjoy regardless of U2 not being there :D

IF the NA leg is in April/May next year, then I bet Fanfire is going to find ways to "extort" more money from me for the U2 membership subscription renewal. Mine (and a bunch of other people's) ends in March 2011. I bet they're not "refunding" the presale codes to people who are returning the tickets, and they're going to entice people to renew their subscription again. It feels like an endless game...

If U2 is really the only reason or the main reason you're going to Glasto, it's too bad they couldn't do a thing kinda like TM, where you give up your tickets for this year but are assured tickets for next year, if U2 plays. They could keep your name on a list or something. eh, wishful thinking I guess. But yeah, you guys are going to have an amazing time nonetheless.

On another note, I wonder how often we'll get updates of B's progress and such. My guess is they'll be pretty hush about it. Hope they announce the reschedule dates within the next month or so and here's hoping they're in the summer again.

Alma, why would you need presale codes again if they're honoring the tickets you already have? Are you going to return tickets you have and try for different cities/dates?

attending a European festival has been on my bucketlist for a long time now and I'd be thrilled if I could kill two birds with one stone! I hope they do glasto next year even though I wouldn't know how to begin to get tickets for such an event.

Is it 2011 yet? Are we nearly there yet? What about now, Dad? Is it time now, Dad? How much longer Dad? Can I have an Ice Cream, Dad?

Hey, I'm planning on seeing Neil McCormick speak in Pittsburgh tomorrow.

Oh wow, I'd love to see him speak. Be sure to report back!

I thought the same thing myself after I heard that the dates would be moved to 2011. I wasn't very happy that they pulled that crap fall '09, getting us to renew months early, in order to buy tickets for this year. Now they get to do it to us again.

just saw that Gorillaz is replacing U2 at Glastonbury... What a lame replacement IMO. I know it's kinda short notice but.. even Coldplay (there I said it) would be better.

As I just wrote in the Glastonbury thread . . .

Speaking as someone who has gone through A LOT of trouble and expense, just to get tickets to the festival! ... Never mind, trip planning! (As I live in California) ...

Reading everything about Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and even Coldplay . . .

And then finding out a day later that its the Gorillaz??

I'm sorry, that just makes a devastating situation even MORE devastating for me.

If they do add new dates, I would expect to see a renewal required for new presale codes. Call me crazy, but that makes sense to me - new year, new dates, yeah just an extension of the previous tour, but I don't really see the issue.

If you're only going to the rescheduled dates with your already-purchased tickets, you won't have to do anything.

Am I missing something with the speculation?

No, you're not missing anything. It just irks me that we're required to renew months early to get additional codes. I feel that if we subscribe, we should be eligible for any codes they issue as long as they fall within our subscription period, that they shouldn't make us pay again for them. It's just me being a cranky-pants. :)

I found this review of the Gorillaz performance at Coachella last month:

"Previous Gorillaz performances have included crazy lights and holograms so obviously expectations were high. However, the performance left the crowd confused. There were no holograms, and really, no Gorillaz— just Damon Albarn rocking with a full band complete with strings and two members of the Clash. The light show was lacking, and the bulk of the performance came in the form of music videos with the rappers playing on a large screen on center stage. The absence of crowd engagement was shocking as well. Despite the lack of rappers, shout outs and, well… Gorillaz, Albarn still played well. The crowd was reluctant to leave after a short acoustic song finished of the set, perhaps in disbelief that the supposed climactic finale was over. Then lights came on to signal to the audience that the festival was, indeed, over."

I know how you feel but I'm now coming out the other side, having had the weekend for the gutting news to set in. Glastonbury is, by common consensus, the best festival in the world so just relish the whole experience, its my first time there, every year I would watch it on TV and wish I were there!

Just some of the bands that I am now looking forward to instead of U2 - Faithless, Orbital, Ray Davies, The Cribs, MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, Mumford & Sons, The Big Pink, Bootleg Beatles. So don't worry, you'll have an amazing time anyway, I know it feels like the best Christmas present ever was just dangled in front of your nose for the last few months and then snatched away from you with barely a month to go, but all is not lost!

I'm looking forward to setlist parties and bootlegs, now that I'm not worried about avoiding spoilers!

I was all set for next week's setlist parties.. Oh well...I don't have the self control to avoid the spoilers...
I'm looking forward to getting back on 1000Mikes and streaming fake live concerts

THANK YOU for that!!

And I know you're right ... I will have an AMAZING time!:hyper:

(I just needed to vent the frustration of this week!:yell: ... including my hopes for a stellar replacement for Bono and the boys!!)

Yeah, but I heard that next's year renewal gift that you'll get for renewing to 2012 to get the fresh presale code for the new cities will be a rip of the Rose Bowl DVD.

It is what it is. It may be their rules. But that doesn't mean that their rules are consumer friendly.

Well, I think many consumers will disagree. I mean, their rules allow consumers to book flights and hotels at low prices (the lowest in the market). Some would call that very consumer friendly. No unnecessary markups, just a low price.

I'd like to see them stream the 1st night of the tour...so we can all experience the :heart: that'll be Bono's first night back.

Yep! That show is going to be so classic...the emotions on both sides will be overwhelming. He is going to get hit with a tidal wave of love ...even more than he does he now! The closing night of the Vertigo tour in Bonolulu he cried at the mike he was so overwhelmed
I was there!! So great!! WHen they come back it's going to be like this times a million!!
