FM96? Yeah, I was thinking of them and The Edge in TO. And it may be a little too heavy/alt for poppy stations...

that's the one, and yeah the edge is the main. it's gonna be a hard fit around here. i think the dj's will push it as long as they can though.

fuck that 2.30 is just seriously hip driving

I thought the lyrics were abit . But the sound is awesome.

you will have to listen to this on CD as i dont think mp3 will do it justice.

Any of the audio gurus here rate the production in terms of dynamic range. ie. badly compressed etc as this will have a big bearing on rest of the tracks

I liked the first listen and especially the the good quality clip we got yesterday. After listening to it over and over again now I get more and more disappointed. I think maybe I had too high expectations. I am a HTDAAB-lover, but wanted something new from U2. I like the sound of this song, but the song itself is a bit boring in my opinion. I am very happy to see so many people loving it and I really appreciate new U2, but I am a little disappointed now. Maybe it will grow. Anyway! Finally it is out there!

I absolutely love it!!!

I'm at work right now and shouldn't be posting here, but I couldn't resist saying at least something... besides, it's my birthday, so I don't think my colleagues have anything against me taking a few liberties today. After all, I do have a cake with me. ;) And Get On Your Boots feels like the perfect birthday gift! :D

I know! I had to go to 2 Vertigo shows all by myself.

I went to three of my four by myself. I want Interference friends this time, dammit

I've listened to the song probably seven or eight times now. It's fun and flirty and a lot more energetic than I was expecting. I can see how people wouldn't like it, but what intrigues me is that this is just one end of the spectrum, and from what we've heard about the album, the spectrum is going to be pretty wide.

Frankly, I think it's refreshing. It's nice to see/hear the band lighten up a bit. That's not to say that there aren't going to be more serious songs on the album, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want to hear the We're Going to Be Serious and Make Important Sociopolitcal Statements version of U2 all the time. Sometimes I want the We're Going to Make You Play Air Guitar In Your Living Room at Almost 4 a.m. version

Well it was nice waiting for the song with you.

I probably won't be visiting interference much for a month or so or until the album comes out. See ya later.

U2 IS ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I feel right now; an amalgam of little kid christmas eve joy, delirious euphoria and just plain ol fucking tired;

You have no idea! I was bouncing off the walls in anticipation before going to bed at 10 pm ct/us so that i could wake up to hear GOYB on rte 2 radio. It was SO much like christmas eve. And the same feel now with having no more presents to open for a while. My roommate is so pissed at my incoherent babbling about U2 as is. Just wait till I get my hands on the album!!!! She's going to hate me!:hyper:

What song has Bono growled on before? Was it Zoo in Sydney?? It's driving me nuts.

He did it all the time during Zoo.

Alright, I'm going to have a quite little pleba moment, that I'll no doubt regret once the hype over this song has died down, but, Bonogrowl:

the guys at 2FM just gave a shout out to interference.com .. love the song - good work Laurence !!

There's a lot of Queens of the Stone Age in this song, especially on chorus.
But I love it.
Quite playful indeed.

rock'n'roll used to be dance music. well, they reinvented u2 and dance rock music again. the riff reminds me of discotheque, the synth sound during the 'hey sexy boots' part is like something from zoo station, etc. but the whole song is really something different. complex, strange, crazy drums and lyrics, killer groove... don't know how to tell. and there are so many awesome edge guitar sounds in it, not just the main riff.. this is going to be a big live song. it can be compared to many musical styles, though it absolutely feels like it's their very own creation. i think the best word is just simply crazy, can't imagine the rest of the album:drool:

Single is out and the site still looks the same? Come on guys. Work on your timing. Indie bands do better!!
Overhaul that site!!!!!!!!!

This happens once every four years. Or so.

As others have said, enjoy it. If you don't like it, oh well. Sorry.

I for one, love it. I can't wait to blast this driving around tomorrow.

Why is everyone so skeptical of this track not having the same mass appeal as Vertigo? I think it's a pretty radio-friendly track - catchy, but interesting enough for people not to get sick of it after a few listens. I think it'll work well!

Did anyone else find themselves thinking about Boots in this pattern?

First listen - "hmmm, interesting, a bit like Vertigo, doesn't sound like a hit."
Couple more listens - "hmmm, actually this is much deeper and better than Vertigo, lots of layers, really nice. Too bad it won't be a huge hit among the general public."
Few more listens - "Wow, this song is fantastic. Just great. Maybe it will find an audience, though not to the same extent as Vertigo."
Few more listens - "Holy fuck this song is blowing my mind this will be the greatest hit of any band all time my face is melting when does the tour start when do i buy tickets i am going to die i am going to die!:drool::drool:"

Yeah. I agree. It takes many listens to get used to. At first you think this is Vertigo 2 because the beginning of both songs sound sort of sound similar. That's where the similarity ends. GOYB is better than Vertigo. The song structure is different and there are many layers musically to it not found in Vertigo. I could see what Alan Cross said about not being able to make up his mind about the song after just one listen. It is a song you definitely need to go back to as Edge hopes the whole album will be.
