I can think of about a dozen countries I would rather contract an acute or chronic illness in than the United States. Hardly saying this bill is air-tight, but we don't need our own healthcare system knocking us down once we get back on our feet.

I would not call it a choice, and I do lean towards a single payer program

but I don't have a lot of sympathy for paying for people's obesity related health issues, I think people should be more accountable for their choices, I know we won't leave them dying in the streets.

Exactly, which is why people who ride bikes have NO RIGHT to be on the road. They're not paying for gas, so they shouldn't ride on the roads.

I don't have kids either. I definitely don't think we should support education, especially if the kids are learning how to play 'beer pong' in school. And you know what? It's because the over paid union teachers. Jesus, it's a wonder the red Chinese are surpassing us. Honest Abe Lincoln, the greatest man of his generation, taught himself how to read and write without public funding. It's time we go back to that model.

We have the greatest system in the world, if you have a good job. Saying anything else is tantamount to treason.

Maybe we should. Then they wouldn't be so fat. If they don't like it, go be fat in Canada

And if they had a good job that provided health insurance then they wouldn't need to lounge on the street. Because they're fat and most likely dying of a heart attack.

It's about personal responsibility and this bill takes it all away.

But that's exactly what we want. Someone who pays into the system and then dies quickly. Need to make sure they have a DNR in place for maximum net profit.

Hence the need for government bureaucrats that sit on panels that determine whether you will get coverage or not. If you don't survive? Blame Darwinism.

You bet your ass it is!

Seriously, though, you don't have to stick to the script all the time. Moments of self-awareness are encouraged.

Thus if you have no insurance you're not allowed to go to a doctor (or a hospital), but your family should have the necessary medical knowledge. I can go with that, it lessens the financial risk/burden on the insurance companies.

Then again, levying a tax on those who don't have insurance (even with all the possibilities of employer-paid health insurance, government subsidies for those with lower incomes, etc.) ensures that people are insured and can thus make use of hospitals, medicines, etc. Sounds also good.

If you're serious, and even if you're not-because at this point it's kinda sad

Type 1 diabetes is primarily genetic, not obesity related. My brother has it too, and IT'S NOT HIS FAULT. Unlike type 2 you can't go off meds or lose weight to "make it better". You don't produce insulin so you'll need to inject it or pump it or you'll DIE. That's really disgusting and lacking in empathy. It was a genetic roulette, could just have easily been me and still could be. But don't worry, I walk every day and I'm not obese and I avoid sugar. I can't get my weight where I'd prefer it to be but I can't get in a time machine and make myself 25 either. A million apologies to my fellow taxpayers.

Anyone who thinks that illness and disease is completely under their control is delusional. To the point of needing professional help. Genetics, accidents, and random circumstance will f with you every time.

I just honestly can't believe the attitudes of some people.

Liberty is freaking flag waving alive and well in Massachusetts, in spite of our socialist health care system and our gay marriage. It's a miracle, I tell ya.
