So many forgotten usernames...when U2 was cool again b4 the crash & burn post NLOTH

Latest from Facebook... not only is the obstructed view covering every seat in the venue, apparently, but U2 also won't be able to play in December because ticketmaster hasn't taken down the Postcard From Earth day yet.

#AsTheSphereTurns

And we wonder how disinformation spreads so easily... it's never been social media, it's always been social media users.
:up::up::up:

FIFY. This quote will appear on some screen during the intro of Zoo Station. After about 30 minutes, Bono won't have to change clothes, make-up, or anything at all when he goes from the Macphisto character to the fat-Elvis-playing-Vegas character before the way-too-short encore of Invisible, American Soul, & TBD.

One can only hope that their overhang does prevent all consumption of the second part of this "Audio-Visual extravaganza" at the Vegas-Sphere.

I get goose bumps thinking about the whole crowd singing along to U2's classic new concert closer..."we'll build it better than we did before...we are the people we've been waiting for..."

allow me to strong disagree with your strong disagree.

there's a lot of seats still available for the December shows.

tacking on another 5 shows when the last group you put on sale didn't sell out immediately isn't a smart move.

high roller and casino hold seats are in all likelihood already spoken for before they're even released to the fan clubs, let alone the general public.

now i have no doubt that these remaining shows will sell out - but it does appear as if they've hit their limit.

25 shows in one city in a 17,500 to 20,000 seat arena is a huge number. from a tickets sold perspective it's the equivalent of 110+ shows at a normal Vegas residency - Adele, Garth, Silk Sonic, etc.

I was just saying, I can see them totally doing some extra shows in March/April while they wait for Larry's health to come back to normal. They had 25 shows come out BEFORE a real public onsale and sure seats are available right now, but not everything is going sell out that fast in 2023.

I mean Bruce 2 in Foxboro is probably still 80% empty, but people will slowly buy tickets as it gets closer to the event date.

People are now bitching about buying the overhang seats... after they put the disclaimer on them, and after everyone knew about them.

We live in a bubble... so to assume everyone knows about them isn't true. Hell I thought you guys were making it up some of this stuff for joke purposes.

You are on facebook and I guess 3 other forums... I'm just on here and I barely know what's going on as I just make jokes and barely read wha anyone writes as I'm a huge asshole.

So just saying -- you know what's free -- complaining!

Why is telling someone to go fuck themselves an insult? It sounds like a nice idea.

Hey Mike, first time long time.

Is it fair to assume that people who buy tickets that are now marked as obstructed view of the screen know that they're obstructed view of the screen?

I'll hang up and listen.

Listen Mike,

People are idiots. They don't even know U2 is playing without Larry making them NOT U2. They think that baby in the ads are part of Ally McBeal. You think people read everyting? Ha ha.

Today I ordered from the wrong Dunkin Donuts on my app. I just had a brain fart and was also doing it while driving and my kid talking to me. People just click randomly sometimes. Making it doesn't show up so good on the ticketmaster app.

So my point is -- PEOPLE ARE SHITS.

That show is a dog with fleas.
Similar thing happened there for GnR in 2016. I got excellent seats (front row of section 128)
for the 2nd show for half the price folks paid for the 1st night.
Then on show might there was a long line that they directed folks with 300 level seats to after they entered where there seats were swapped for 100 levels and the 300 level was closed.
Expect the same for Mr. $pring$teen.
I'll be out of town otherwise would be planning on a similar move to GnR to get great seats at a low cost (and far less than the normal miserable Foxboro traffic to boot)

Loud noises at a rock concert...who knew?

I assume this is what will happen in Vegas.

I'm overtired as I liked this song tonight.

MSG Sphere makes outreach a ‘priority’ in wake of U2 seat fiasco

By Richard N. Velotta Las Vegas Review-Journal
May 19, 2023 - 6:07 pm

An entertainment industry expert and a consumer advocate agree there’s little more the operators of the MSG Sphere at The Venetian can do for U2 fans who purchased tickets with obstructed sight lines to the big screens that wrap around the 17,500-seat performance venue that opens later this year.

Representatives of the Sphere Entertainment Co. have reached out to hundreds of ticket holders who bought premium seats in the lower-level Section 100 areas to offer refunds or a different seat at a different presentation of the “U2 UV: Achtung Baby” shows that begin Sept. 29 and run through December.

Sphere officials issued a statement once the sight obstructions were discovered. They declined to comment beyond their statement.

“Our fans and their experience are always our top priority,” the statement said. “As soon as we realized there was an issue, we worked closely with event organizers to reach the affected ticketholders with several make-good options. We look forward to Sphere’s opening with U2 and their incredible run of shows they have planned for fans this fall.”

Longtime Las Vegas entertainment venue expert Daren Libonati of the Libonati Entertainment Group said he feels badly for operators of the Sphere because similar problems crop up whenever a new venue opens.

Libonati led the team that opened the MGM Grand Garden in 1993 and he discovered seating problems there nine days before Barbra Streisand was to open the venue with a concert.

“It’s never fun to find out after the fact that you’ve got issues,” Libonati said. “I feel bad for them.”

Libonati said venue designers review computer-aided design visuals regularly before a venue opens, but “you never really know until you know … how good everything looks until you walk it and all the seats are in place.”

Libonati said his team had to scramble to resolve problems for 150 ticket holders at MGM Grand Garden before the venue’s debut with Streisand.

“I can’t imagine anyone with the property, the Sphere, the band and the promoter who are not going to embrace these 800 people and figure out the best strategy personally for each one of them,” he said. “This isn’t easy for anyone.”

A representative of the Nevada Consumer Affairs office, which works to resolve consumer complaints, said there’s little that the office can do because ticket buyers sign a terms-and-conditions agreement when they buy tickets that includes several phrases holding producers harmless from paying ancillary expenses resulting from any rescheduling.

That means ticket holders would have no chance of being compensated for the expense of having to change airline tickets or hotel reservations if they attend a concert on a different day.

Ticket holders in the affected sections will have no problem seeing the band on stage; what’s obstructed are some portions of the screens, which have been touted as one of the breakthrough attractions unique to the venue.

Sphere officials discovered in a walk-through of the $2.3 billion venue that people sitting in around 800 seats would not be able to see all of the nearly 4-acre high-resolution LED screens that wrap around the audience because of an overhang of the Section 200 seats above them.

The 100 and 200 sections are considered choice positions to see the show. Wednesday afternoon, tickets in the 100 section were running $2,600-$4,200 on secondary ticket site LasVegasTickets.com. Tickets in the 200 section were going for between $1,700 and $3,100.

Contractors are completing the installation of the interior screens inside the Sphere this month.

Strange how a bunch of forum cretins (blessed to be one) were able to tell this from early renders but the folks paid to do this completely missed the boat.

See also: presale approach, fanclub seniority, etc.

my guess would be that MSG told LiveNation - LiveNation sold them anyways, people started contacting the Sphere to complain, the Sphere folks were like "wtf bro we told you," LiveNation was all "nah bruh you said they could see the band" and them Sphere went and sat in the seats and facetimed LiveNation like "nah bro see? there's a roof" and then they send the emails.

Every turn of this has some element of screwup. What’s especially galling is that they have not yet repriced them. Essentially: “yeah, you can see the band and you’re in the lower level so that’ll be $500, fuck you very much.” When the scalpers aren’t touching them, they’re overpriced.

More or less, I'll bet.

They were probably like this guy named Headache on a U2 forum doesn't think the overhang is a big deal, keep the prices high

Isn’t it pathetic that they can’t build a place in 2023 and not have any issues like this let alone learn about them after it’s built. Good planning jerks.

With 3d modeling and all the technology there is these days, you reallllllllly couldn't tell that the overhang might be an issue? Were they still using the same software from 1993?

There could very well be an architectural reason why 7 rows are under an overhang. But it was really dumb to release these in the VIP pool and/or sell them at the highest value - or at the very least sell them without including a disclaimer.

That said - if we're going to talk about the fucking overhang for the next 130 days I'm going to lose my mind.

The Facebook group is going to keep talking about it, though.

Give me some “band in the rehearsal room” clips…

…unless that’s going to ignite the “no Larry, no U2” debate. In that case, never mind.

Might as well talk about things to do in Vegas in the other thread.
