Holy fucking crap. I feel so vindicated...after bitching about how tame the sets were from Barcelona on, that show rocked with its shuttlecock out. Even Better Than The Real Thing is pure sex...it's vaguely psychedelic and more danceable than ever before. Reminded me of some Zonoscope type shit. The whole Achtung section was brilliant, but One Tree Hill of course stole the show. And the solo Edge played on it...fucking hot. Ashley will fill you in on her opinion of the GA experience, but rest assured that while I would happily do GA once again, I have no interest in being stuffed into a hole with a bunch of amateur photographers who have no interest in singing the songs they supposedly love so much. The vocal response for much of the songs was crap where I was, aided by their idols being mere feet from them (which made Crazy Tonight remix a highlight for me, even though I'm not too hot on the song itself).

U2? They were awesome (as was Interpol, although their set was frustratingly brisk). Their fans, on the other hand, kind of sucked today. You guys are still cool though.

You guys were on my mind, so happy for you.....

Thanks, NSW, Cobbler and all those who congratuated us on attending a great show, which had nothing to do with us, of course. I haven't seen U2 in over 6 years, so this show really reminded me how professional and fucking epic their shows are. And when you sneak in some spur-the-moment genius, it's magic. That I can say that the experience was entirely worth it after a full day of line drama and So. Much. Waiting. is proof that U2 is not only still one of the best live bands out there, but that they're in a very special position right now that's allowing them to play the best, most balanced sets of their career.

Everyone: please, please go see them in the next couple of weeks if you haven't already. This is a great time to do so.

Stopped now, but I've got an hour drive ahead, and I'm going straight to bed when I arrive. Been up for nearly 24 hours on about 5 hours of sleep.

Cobbler! Why are you erasing my facebook comments!?!

Man I'm sorry but no one knows about interference! Nothing personal or anything, :) I'd just prefer to keep it on the down low from my facebook peeps. I was gonna come in here and explain but you got in first :reject:

Tthey're in a very special position right now that's allowing them to play the best, most balanced sets of their career.

Balanced?? Playing all that stuff from AB and only 3 songs now from their newest album? And still ignoring Poppycock?

I guess compared to previous tours there's a wider selection from more albums, but as far as I'm concerned, balanced=nostalgia jukebox. I had a great time at my 2 recent shows, but it's a far cry from the band that came out of the gates dropping 8 songs in a row off their newest work.

Don't think for a second that CockTV wasn't better than 360 because it wasn't as balanced. A tour should be focusing on the newest material foremost, and if the remainder of the songs is balanced than great.

...But you had fun, right? The No Line tour is long over, and now they are instead playing a solid chunk of what many consider to be their best album, as well as the best material from arguably their most creative album. For once this tour, the 90s are being properly represented. Then you have the excellent inclusion of Out of Control that we had this evening, as well as Scarlet and SBS to round out the first three records (poor effort here, but maybe they'll fix it on the next tour). Late 80s tracks All I Want Is You, Bad and (tonight) One Tree Hill have also spiced things up. My main issue right now is that they're playing the wrong NLOTH tracks. Give me Breathe and NLOTH over Sexy Boots and Crazy Tonight any day (Crazy Tonight was, again, great fun live, but I feel they could interact the same way during, I dunno, Discotheque. It just feels really unnecessary to me).

If U2 continues to run oldies into the ground at the expense of new tracks when the next tour starts, I'll agree that fucking Achtung Baby tracks are harmful to the set. Can't convince me of that right now though...I pity those sluggish leg 1 sets.

/bed. Night, shuttlecocks and cockettes.

I can agree with much of what your saying here, and we'll never know how the tour would have naturally evolved (or devolved) had Boner's accident not happened.

But I do think it's a stretch to say the 90's are properly represented with no Poppycock getting played. It's an injustice that has been going on for three straight tours, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

God, I wish I could. Can't believe it took 360 two whole years to get to a point where I actually like the setlist. I reckon you guys got the best set of the tour (so far?).

Replace ISHFWILF with AIWIY or Bad, and Boots or Elevation with NLOTH and it would have been pretty much as good as a 360 setlist could get.

I wish I could too... setlists are way better than the ones we got and it seems like the band's in a good place.

For me, swap Sarajevo with RTSS, Elevation for NLOTH and add Bad and it would be their best setlist in their history.

i didn't even find elevation obnoxious in nashville. my only two complaints were:

1. if you're buying the stadium a new pitch after you've played the city, is the metal ground plating necessary, especially when it's in the high 30s? that shit was still hot after the gig.
2. they didn't play zooropa twice.

Are we not spoiler-tagging stuff any more? Well, to be on the safe side:

I really don't care that much about Elevation much at the moment either way. What just bugs me is that it's awkward between Beautiful Day and Pride. Swap it with Magnificent, which would be seamless. Or with NLOTH, which wouldn't be as seamless but would be much more awesome. Either way, it'd get some NLOTH album representation in there at almost no cost.

also, what's up with bono channeling beyonce during mysterious ways? i nearly pissed myself laughing at single ladies in nashville.

Haha, did he really? That's going on U2gigs immediately!

if you're still actively posting on interference and don't want to know what's happening on tour, tough shit. now that elmel and ashley have seen their gig, i can't think of who i'd be spoiling?

the set needs more no line title track. i can't name something to replace, but do it.

and i'm still loving the girl near me in nashville who knew get on your boots, but looked lost during i will follow.

Damn, it's too early for me to get all teary-eyed before work.

This is why I have a bunch of ignored Friend requests. :reject:

I totally missed that. The guy next to me, who was great, was still WHOOPING in my ear at that point until his girlfriend told him to be quiet, and then he just sang for the rest of the show like a good boy.

DI specialists: there's a song I'd really, really love to use for mini di. Opening track. Transitions well into track two. Problem is, it doesn't quite match the rest of the playlist. I'm torn.

Not that it remotely matters. We probably take di way too seriously

I love having some of you on facey, and I'd like to keep it that way, I just like to keep interference and "real" life separate. Hope we cool, jt.

Same here. I just don't want FB to be about U2 and interference private jokes. That's what interference is for. Not that I even use FB much but I might some day so I'm careful who I friend.

Just a couple hours earlier and the title of this thread could have been "Deleting Jive Turkey's Facebook posts." What a shame.

Cobbler! Why are you erasing my facebook comments!?!

You friggin' add friggin' Cobbler and not friggin' me? You son of a bitch bastard!

Nothing personal or anything, :) I'd just prefer to keep it on the down low from my facebook peeps.

Get real, you just don't want your friends to know you interact with Canadians.

The No Line tour is long over

I had recorded some sort of U2 "live on the BBC rooftop" or something like that off of Palladia, and tried to watch it last night and ended up turning it off and deleting it when for some strange reason I got really sad when the first song they started with was Breathe. I don't know why it bummed me out to know they'll probably never play it live again, but it did. Glad you and z2012 had fun last night!

I'd actually prefer if people kept doing spoiler tags...I've been skimming over U2-related posts for awhile now, but since it seems like they've been putting on a great show lately, I'm probably going to use the ticket I have for Minneapolis (which I was considering selling)...

Breathe and Unknown Caller should be played live again.

I'm glad I saw those shows on the first leg.

1Bl00dz, if you sell it, we'll sell you.
Or something.

So Popmatters gave Limp Bizkit's new album 8 /10 today... I realize you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but i have a hard time thinking anything with a cover like this could be worthy of such a high score.
