Watched a SNL rerun from 2000 and got so excited about the Denver gig! Less than a month - road trip up to Denver from Albuquerque! If you see a VW Golf with ATYCLB NM license plates and the space baby from ZooTV on the back window, that's us!!!

is section 103 adam's side? i'm getting my ticket on ticketmaster now!

ticketmaster is an official sales channel right? not some scalper site?

Will anybody here be lining up early for the GA line, and how early exactly? i was thinking about 7 in the moring, but there are others who say get there the night before.

Less than 2 weeks 'til my first U2 concert!!!

I see some of you have mentioned going to Rocky Mountain National Park while you're here. Just a heads up from a Denverite - call before you go. If you're staying an extra week Trail Ridge Road might be open, but it often doesn't open til Memorial Day. Especially this year since we've got record snowpack in the high mountains. There's a phone number to call and more details here: Crews target Trail Ridge Road opening for May 27 - The Denver Post

Anybody knows how many tickets are left for this show?

Not sure, but there's still good seats in the 100s - and Red Zone from the looks of it - coming up on Ticketmaster... (I'm debating between a seat and RZ since RZ is currently only $25 more - can someone explain how RZ works as opposed to normal GA?)

What about the roads north and south of the national park? Will they be open?

GA line up

Official word is you will not be allowed to line up until 7. My experience (Sam Boyd, Oct. '09) is some hard-core groupie will be there the night before taking down a hand-written list for your name and marking your hand with a sharpie to somehow use the next morning when we are all allowed out of the shadows and it to the "official" line. Wrist-bands were given to the first 500(?) or so (around 4PM) for entry to the inner circle, not sure they were checked too closely inside, though. Stage set-up is such that there are THOUSANDS of great spots for enjoying the show.

Pre-show party?

Anyone planning a fan party the night before?
(Very much on the DL: The Fray are playing a "practice" show on Thursday night in Boulder, unpublicized but open to the public.)

i've only had one RZ experience (glendale), but you go to a separate entrance from the normal GA and get wristbanded up. you are assigned RZ1 or RZ2 and you go in there.

instead of going to our RZ section, my sister and I went outside the rail and watched the show from there.

Just checked TM - all Red Zone tickets seem to be gone, but seats are still available in at least the $275 (including fees) and $111 (including fees) ranges...

Given a choice I'd try to find a regular GA. Its might be a bit of a nail bitter finding one but generally you can find one a bit easier as it gets closer.

Geepers, just checked my reservation for the Residence Inn and feeling good. I think it was $61 dollars a night...now its....wait for it.....$272.49...Glad I booked early..for $272 Bono should be singing Acrobat as a lullabye for me.

 What roads? You can drive to Estes Park from the east and Grand Lake from the west but there's no other road between Estes Park and Grand Lake, north or south. It would take a very, very long time to go around the park and you're better off going back the way you came if Trail Ridge Road is closed.

If you're ok paying the $20 to hike, there are some decent lake hikes on the Estes Park side you can get to, and Estes Park is a neat town, but there are plenty of free places to hike near Denver that are just as good if not better.

Fuck. Wait a minute. The Fray is opening in Denver, not Lenny Kravitz?

Yes, unfortunately. This may be the only show of the tour that I show up to at 8:30, since it's that rare combo of having a seat ticket and an opening band that I don't care about. (actually I might show up at 8 just to have time to peruse the merch stand)

(Remember, it's still winter in the Colorado mountains!).

Yeah, been checking out tours and it'll be about a week too early for the Rocky Mountain Park tour. I'm a bit torn about which tour to take, my choices are this:

The Colorado Sightseer, Inc. -- Colorado Sightseeing Specialists PLUS this (basically just for Red Rocks) The Colorado Sightseer, Inc. -- Colorado Sightseeing Specialists

or just this one (which already includes Red Rocks): The Colorado Sightseer, Inc. -- Colorado Sightseeing Specialists

Anybody have any thoughts on what might be best? I don't drive so I can't strike out on my own... Although if the long-range forecast holds, it's gonna be a rainy weekend. :madspit:

Looks like the road to the north of the park is 14, the one south is 40. I looked it up. On a map. ;) I think I looked at a topographical map a while ago and you pass through higher elevations to the south of the park? I'm wondering if there's anywhere to stop and walk around a teeny bit in the high elevations...I want a chance at seeing pikas (pika? pikae?).

[My aim is for views and nature, not speed. We have two days to get there, after all.]

40 takes you to Grand Lake, and if you keep going, to Steamboat which is a ski town. I've only driven to Steamboat in late summer so I'm not sure of road conditions. I do know you're not very likely to see a pika. I haven't taken 14 because it's too far from Denver to do in one day.

The road up Mount Evans takes you into the high country and you'll get some nice views. They have the ability to just close off the very top since it's one-way. You'll almost certainly see marmots on the road and possibly pikas.

My favorite one-day scenic route is 285 to 24, then back through Colorado Springs (goes right by Garden of the Gods too). If roads are good and I have enough time, 50 instead of 24. Both routes give you some awesome views of the mountains and you're almost guaranteed to see pronghorn going through South Park (the big valley near Fairplay).

They're getting another 2-4" of snow up in the high country today with more expected tomorrow.

If you want to see the Rockies, #3 sounds the best. #2 is nice if you want to stay close to Denver. I just heard something on the radio yesterday about Lariat Loop Road being closed for construction but I can't find any more details.

Also, when it rains in Denver, it usually only rains for an hour or two in the afternoon so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Parking

Anyone lining up all day for GA and bringing a car will want to call the stadium at 720.258.3000 and get a parking pass for $30 for Lot J by the north end. That way you can have your chairs, coolers, etc all day and easily take them back to your car before entry.
