King's backtracking to protect the shield. His source was right and Mortensen's as well (including the perfect blow by blow description of what the video showed), now Goodell and co. are trying to cover their collective ass. The league saw the video and suspended Rice 2 games, thinking that they could trust whoever said the video would never go public.

Guaranteed the NFL saw the video. There are too many ex-law enforcement types both working for the NFL (as with any multi-billion dollar corporation) and for casino security for there not to have been a point where the full video was discreetly passed between offices. There are too many connections and "I know a guy"'s in that world for that not to have happened, point blank.

And now Ray Rice, being suspended indefinitely/cut, is going to be home constantly with a lot of time on his hands and enough money that he doesn't have to look for work right away, and with a huge (seven-plus figure) grievance festering on top of all that. Poor Janay Palmer. She's got a rough time ahead of her.

This is fucking bullshit, and makes me wish I didn't love football quite so much so that I would be able to just not watch. I don't want to give the NFL my business but what the hell can you do against this kind of a monopoly

The rumor is that Terry Pegula (owner of Buffalo Sabres, Penn State hockey, and the PA governor's office) is about to buy the Bills and has been pushing hard for Cowher, so in that scenario Cowher would be unable to get the first pick since Buffalo's pick belongs to Cleveland.

But the number one pick is going to be Marcus Mariota if he declares.

With his relationship with the Mara family, and that he's moved from North Carolina to the Upper East Side... yea,I still believe he's waiting for Coughlin to retire and/or get fired.

The NFL just released a statement stating they have no knowledge of this and will look into it.
