I'm catching up on Orphan Black.

Ho-leeeee craaaap!

If Tatiana Maslany doesn't get any nominations, there's no hope for humanity

I've seen a good chunk of them. Most aren't worth dicking around with.
There were a handful that were actually pretty decent and some good final season moments. A few underwhelming moments too, from what I remember.

I have to admit to half-ass watching what I did see though.
And I can't even think of one to suggest, to be honest.
Which probably tells you how great they were.

Anyway, I thought it was really good for the first 4 seasons.
And the last few (of what I've seen) have been pretty close to brutal.

Season 8 was pretty fucking bad from what I recall. Seasons 5, 6, 7 minus the Michael-Holly stuff (and his subsequent exit) all run together. In fact there may be a season in there that I only saw about 1/3 of. Stopped caring.

I will applaud them for avoiding one INCREDIBLY overused trope though.
They never broke up Jim and Pam and then spent time trying to inevitably get them back together - or whatever. That they allowed them to be a happy couple was actually kind of nice. Even if it got terribly boring.

A friend of a friend talked me into watching Freaks and Geeks. I'm about half way through the series, it's been entertaining.

I made it about three episodes in, without finding anything even remotely likable about it. The characters resemble actual human high school kids in a quite-well done way, but I think that just reminded me how much I hated high school kids when I was in high school. Add in Seth Rogen, and simply mediocre turns into irredeemably annoying. I know he was hardly the star of the first three episodes, but he was there. That's enough to permanently taint any series/movie.

So pleased that Hollyoaks won 5 major awards at The British Soap Awards Last night, especially since they get the fewest viewers. I bet their viewers will increase tonight though.

I agree what this guy said in another forum:
Quote:
What I feel about Hollyoaks is that it is, like Brookside before it, very variable. It can be really dicey and because they adopt block storytelling, this means that sometimes there is a full week that is quite painful to watch, but when it is good, it is brilliant and heads and shoulders above the other soaps and for the last 9 months or so, there have been a lot of good weeks. Corrie and Emmerdale I feel are more consistent. It is rare that they are absolute 'must see tv' (though it does happen) but they never transmit a bad episode. Even if it is a bit on the dull side, there is usually at least a funny line or two to make you giggle - basically it is always watchable. EE used to be somewhere in the middle but increasingly over the last couple of years, I'm just zoning out - it's not only boring, it is annoyingly boring as the characters act so out of character or in a way that makes you want to bang your head against the wall. Tune in Christmas Day for an explosive day on Albert Square. Then when the tinsel is taken down, the show settles back into humdrum tales of teen angst, love triangles, and episodes featuring couples bickering over cans of tuna, Carol moaning about Tiff leaving peanut butter on the doorknob. Really banal type stuff. It is now May, nearly halfway through the year and not single storyline has presented itself since Christmas.
Emmett Scanlan should have won best actor though

Just finished season 7 of Curb. Was great to see the Seinfeld cast back together, and such a Curb ending with Larry insisting Cheryl call Julia and tell her she left the coffee stain.

Cosima is my favorite. Allison is annoying. Sarah is cool. Helena is loony but she may become an interesting player here if Sarah keeps an eye on her.

And we're talking about the same actress for these characters

Just finished season eight. If indeed he doesn't make another season that's a fucking funny finish. Michael J Fox, Parkinson's, the gay kid and the swastika, Councilman Jamm...

Dr. Lecter invited me over for dinner, it would be a shame not to respond. I hear he prepares sublime rare beef tenderloin.

The Orphan Black season finale was phenomenal. I am going to be so anxious for Season 2 next year! In the meantime, I am going to tell everyone I know that they need to watch this show. Also, if the Golden Globes and Emmys do not nominate Tatiana Maslany for her roles, I will send them hate mail.

Well, OK. Maybe not. That was out of line. But damn, she deserves recognition.

Now that I'm free and clear of my Arrested Development Seasons 1-3 rewatch and watching Season 4....and finishing Parade's End, I started Orphan Black today, finally. Only one episode in but so far so good.

I am watching Arrested Development for the first time.
DVRed all 3 seasons last week. It is deserving of the 9.3 rating it has on IMDB. Great writing.

The Banana Stand is coming to Newport for the first time tomorrow, Balboa Island. The series was shot on the Marina del Rey board walk in Los Angeles.
A 20 year friend, who is our current Mayor, will give the Netflix execs the Key to the City.

Quote:
WHAT: In appreciation for bringing “Arrested Development’s” Bluth Original Frozen Banana Stand to Balboa Island, Newport Beach Mayor Keith Curry will present the key to the city of Newport Beach to Netflix.

WHO: Newport Beach Mayor Keith Curry and a Netflix representative

WHERE: Outside the “Arrested Development” Bluth Original Frozen Banana Stand Marine Avenue and Park Avenue, beside the musical stage for the Balboa Island Parade concert.

WHEN: Sunday, June 2nd at 10:15am
