“Discourse” is not healthy when broken into this binary “us vs. them” conversation. I’m not sure what your “top 10s” are here… define “most/least dependent”?
Either way, your point is toxic. Do we throw out the 45% of the population in Texas, a “not bottom dependent” state, because it’s binary color is red and not blue? What about Texas’s key contributions to engineering? Energy sector? You don’t have your fucking potatoes without Idaho. They’re maybe “dependent” but they have a role. You’re taking that shit for granted. We have what we have because we are 350 million people across a vast land. The power of unionism, be it the US, the EU, Russia, or China, is what gives you access to so many sectors with so many contributions.
Sorry, but you’ll always be able to “rank” someone by performance. Not only do I not think the “dependence” argument even holds up all that well on red vs. blue states (certainly not after you adjust for “redness” or “blueness” vs. population), but I think it’s toxic rhetoric.
