What the hell is a Blog? I keep seeing them all over the place, or should I say - see people typing about/discussion them.

Right. It's an online journal.. short for "weblog". The name was coined by www.blogger.com.

a blog is just like a diary on your computor. log into it and write whatever you want. you can put it on your own website, show it to friends ect ect.
