Came back home over the weekend after doing the first 4 shows all with GA.
There was literally ZERO drama in any of the lines. Everybody understood, respected and followed the rules in Tulsa, St Louis and San Jose. What is this drama that this forum talks about? Seriously, what drama?

It's not so much real drama as much as like the douchiness of the some of the people involve/shady techniques used for people getting the low numbers.

I've never experienced any drama first hand (well, except for a buddy of mine who wanted to lean against the rail because he had back problems, and the girl with a low number on the rail told him no, and spread her legs out to hold spots for her friends) but I'm also not showing up super early at the venues.

Which "rules" would you be referring to?

Yeah, I have very rarely seen shady stuff going on at the top of the line. Its happened once in a while, but if I had to guess, I'd say 97% of the GA people are there without cutting a line or doing anything weird. I don't know, this tour everyone is just chill and mellow in lines.

Typical 'Check-In' times. (Example: Day before the show from 6-8 pm and day of show 7 am)

Those rules are not made by the band, nor are they made by any of the venues.
They are made by a few entitled travelling fans to ensure that they get the best spots.
They are in no way official rules.

In all fairness the Forum does a great job, i showed up midday, got a numbered wristband from the Forum staff, and went back to the hotel to eat lunch. No list needed; all the list people had already left. I didnt look for any fake Priuses.

That's not a rule.

That's an arbitrary pile of horse shit that by it's nature excludes anyone who doesn't know to look on web forums, closed Facebook pages or the Ford Focus parked behind the local Arby's.

And I don't blame you for taking advantage of it. I blame the band's management for being wilfully ignorant to it.

If it were publicly stated band policy... ya know, a rule... more people would "check in"

The check in folks are always crying for Guy Oseary and LiveNation to help when the venue "ignores the list" and just goes by the venue's stated GA policy... you know, the actual rules... So why won't they just speak up and ask for the band to set an official policy governing check ins, line ups, lists, etc?

Ohhhhhhhhh that's right... because then it would be truly open to everyone.

Let's just make it fair for everyone. Make it an official policy. Have the line staffed by band management starting at a set time. Heck, even make it 48 hours out. Post it on the band's website and social and send instructions to anyone who purchases a GA ticket on what to do.

Allow every single person the ability to "check in."

Reality is the majority of the people who already so will still be in the front, but they just might not always be first every time.

What is the "official" policy so far this year? Same as JT30? No overnight lineups? ,venues handing out #'d wristbands at 7am showday? Seems like check-in lists are starting 3 days in advance, which last year was criticized when it happened, by the usual line runners, including Nate if I remember, because he couldnt travel from one show to the next in time to start the line that early.

Exactly, SAP in SJ said that people could start lining up at 9 which is when we were allowed to actually be on property. I had no problem with the line in SJ and thought it was really well organized, but yes, it's not official and isn't fair to those that were going strictly off of the official e-mail from the venue. I second the Bruce Springsteen way of doing things, it seems the most fair

How would anyone know these “rules” unless they are privy to the secret society of “rule” makers somewhere on the internet?? It’s not like these fake rules are posted in the band’s official website or sanctioned by the band. It’s all a bunch of BS - the only line/numbering system that should be allowed or recognized is whatever is sanctioned and authorized officially by the venue. Not a freaking number written on a hand by a dude in a Ford Escort in the Taco Bell parking lot.

Hey man....that suit is you! You'll get some leg tonight for sure!

That was my school uniform.

Precisely. And check-ins, unless officially sanctioned by the venue, are total bullshit. Fucking sit in line. Don't just rock up at 6pm the night before and then piss off for dinner and drinks and a shag and a shower and a comfy hotel room before coasting in at 9am on the day of the show. If you want a position worthy of turning up at 6pm the previous day, sit your arse down and camp there overnight in the queue.

Exactly. I read people numbered for LA1 had a nice meet up in a bar somewhere the night before the show. Why not pick a place to have the line offsite if they're not allowed next to the arena , grab some drinks and snacks, camp out for the night and (WILD idea) save your fucking spot for yourself. Nice and social too.

Plus LA2 line runners said because of the traffic round the arena they were hoping to offer a "drive through check in" during LA1 so people wouldn't have to get out of their cars. How can none of them see just how absurd this whole thing has become??

Yeah. I played the get my ass in line game before 6 a.m. yesterday. Sooooo not worth it. I mean I got rail but it was just the whole vibe of I'm first you're NOT so don't think about screwing us because we will tell security!! Especially during the 2 lines created in the hallway before getting in the arena!! I will enjoy it today And WILL get there around 6:30 so hope everybody has fun NOT stressing just enjoys U2!

Not bothering getting there til a bit before doors tonight. Will be close enough.

This post is so fucking real that it seems like it may have scared a certain person off. Why would there ever be drama when you make your own rules that work just fine for you? :sexywink:

Just when you think you've read it all. That out-parodies our actual parodies.

This drive-thru option was built into The List app for a reason, people.

OH I forgot to tell my Vegas 2 GA experience. Got there at 6:15, got in line, doors opened 15 minutes later and got like maybe 10-12 people rows behind the front rail and 3-4 behind the side rail. Great position. I saw people with the numbered wrist bands but they were not dramatically closer, just in the first 2 rows maybe. Anyhoo, had a great time despite being shortest set of the tour. OH and I dont know if they undersold the GA at that show but there was plenty of room to move around even to B stage and back. Here are the pics I took:
