Never heard of Black Books. But yeah, i could maybe manage a bookstore too but i think here there may be too many idiots as well.

Luckily i have a huge shopping mall 25 minutes walk / 10 minutes bus ride away with a huge range of stores.

Black Books is a great British comedy (well, actually, I think Dylan Moran is Irish, but it's made in Britain). It's to bookshops as Fawlty Towers is to hotels or Father Ted to the priesthood. Would be right up your alley.

I'd be content doing something in an office like data entry. It'd be repetitive and mundane, but I'd have to talk with only a few people, thus reducing the frequency of idiots.

I thought of using the bus ride to catch up on readings or work, but i discovered quickly that the bus ride is generally cramped and long so it's best to get on the bus and zone out.

The trams are fairly comfortable so it's not a bother. I get most of my reading done on them, truth be told. I could just travel around all day reading books on the tram.

Actually, I haven't been able to study any NZ history, I just do it as custom essays for any class I can fit it into. In my honours year next year, it'll be central to my thesis, and the same when I do my Masters and PhD. So I'll be qualified for some sort of academic position, be it research or lecturing, and I aim to augment my Kiwi knowledge with enough about Australia and the South Pacific to be able to teach beyond the Kiwi field. i.e. I could teach a course on South Pacific political history while working on writing articles/books on Kiwi history.

Or alternatively I could get into something private sector that just needs a qualified historian who knows what they're doing, who knows ...

I can't wait to get further beyond undergrad. I'm getting a bit bored with it ... 2nd and 3rd year History is all pretty much doing the same stuff over and over again. I feel the need for a challenge.

And oh God, I just discovered there's whole episodes of Black Books on YouTube. I've ended up spilling ice all over myself and I'm not seven minutes into the first episode. (I hadn't actually seen this one.)
