Ed O'Brien just dropped his first single, with a full album and tour coming in 2020!

I like it! It takes a bit to get going, but once that second half kicks in, it's pretty amazing. Sounds like a mixture of Steven Wilson and Depeche Mode.

There are a few songs I feel guilty leaving out because of how much I love them. Hard to do a Rushmore with a band with this much quality material.

My gut instinct with these sort of things is 'nothing before OK Computer and nothing after King of Limbs, and nothing from Hail To The Thief, period'.

Unfair? For sure. There are a couple of astonishing and not-played-to-death deep cuts from The Bends (Street Spirit), and A Moon Shaped Pool does have its moments... but as all-timers, I dunno.

The new Ed O'Brien song is fantastic - I hear elements of LCD Soundsystem, Achtung-era U2 and some of OK Computer's spacey touches. Plus Ed's got a great falsetto. You can hear how much he picked up from hearing Thom sing for so many years.
