The chord that rings right when Eddie sings "bound". Some tabs online say F, some say F/C (x33210). It definitely is neither of those, and it sounds like the bass note is a D.

Anyone know what this chord actually is?

Am-G-D

that's what it sounds like to me

D major

of course, how he's playing that D, is probably some kind of variation.
The bass is D and the melody sounds like it ends on D/F#-which D major

I've seen it transcribed as just
Am-G, with the D on the bass over the continuing G

I think it's a Dmaj though

It almost sounds to me like it's just hitting the open strings on a guitar tuned down to DADGAD (but obviously the rest of the song is unplayable in that tuning). If it indeed is a Dmaj, the low E is most certainly dropped to D on at least one of the guitars. But then that screws up the G that comes right before it!

Yeah, I considered drop D but I don't know of any other PJ songs played in drop D.
I guess it's certainly possible they used it on this song.

You would just fret the G as
E-x
B-0
G-0
D-5
A-5
D-5

Pearl Jam has used a lot of open-tunings throughout their career. Open-D, Open-G.

This is a great Pearl Jam tab/guitar site:

I figured it out. It's an F/C:

1
1
2
3
3
0

Standard tuning.

This chord has been my nemesis for a long time.

I figured out the first chord to A Hard Day's Night by ear sooner than this, and this one is that easy. For fuck's sakes.
