Exciting news, but again the subtle framing paints Bono as out of touch, behind the times and maybe a little desperate. A new album "supposedly due", fans "hoping for a tour" as though it wasn't a given with a new album, and my favorite, Bono has to "ask who's in charge" and get filled in by a reporter. Of course everyone seeks information but it could have been written, "expressed interest in Coachella" or similar instead of poor old Bono wondering who's the person to talk to, to get shit done. Tiny things that are creating an atmosphere of lack of confidence.
 
I'm willing to bet this new album will be exactly the opposite of everything we are predicting. Then again, if that's true, then I'm wrong.
 
It would be nice to debut some new songs live but yeah, they won't play there this year. The timing is off. I'd expect they'll start shows about May or June, after the album's been out for a month or two. We all know how rusty they are when they don't practice!
 
I really thought we'd have news of an album title and release date by mid-Jan.. guess we're not quite there yet, but damn.. quiet times :hmm:

guess I'll just relax with this glass of whiskey...

If it's early April we'll hear something in about 2 weeks. If it's late April we've got until the middle of February.
That's assuming they go with the standard release style and don't drop it as a surprise!
 
If the album doesn't come out until April we probably won't hear anything for about another month.

When did we first start hearing NLOTH stuff, december-january right? That album came out late feb, so if this one is late march/early april, should be sometime this month we get our first newsbits.
 
Silence to me makes it seem more likely that the Super Bowl thing could happen, as the band would want to wait until then to release any information. I hope not.
 
Plus, it's still only the 8th of January. We still have a bit until "mid-January"... which should be totally, completely reassuring, right? :wink:

Imagine if Bono wouldn't have mentioned a follow up album with an album title after NLOTH came out and Paul McGuiness not said that an album would be out in June 2010. Would have made this whole ordeal much easier. We probably wouldn't have really started talking about a new album until the 360 Tour was over, which would have eliminated 17 threads right there.
