Sweet! The Nets are weaker and Harden will ruin the 76ers. I'm calling Heat or Bucks for the East.

James Harden has also, ya know, kinda sucked this year. He's shooting 42%, 33% from the field, averaging 5 turnovers.

Philly's baking a lot on the idea that he's just unhappy and not, ya know, toast.

Bol we hardly knew you.

I once passed his father in the lobby of the Garden (think it was called the FleetCenter at the time, maybe the Hewson Headache center), my lord talk about tall (and gangly).

in 2019 i escorted Gheroge Muresan around London for a few days the week of the NBA UK game.

i can't imagine possibly being that tall. it's absurd.

I understand the skepticism about Harden at this age in Philly. We'll see.

But I cannot wait for everyone predicting a Simmons renaissance in Brooklyn to see what happens in the playoffs.

And I'm sure the New York sports media will go very easy on him!

I fully support rooting for the trade to be a disaster for both teams.

it's the Nets.

if he was going to the Knicks, i'd be there with you.

nobody cares about the Nets. Including the media.

LOL yes.

But also, Simmons does not to play the same role in the playoffs at all. They have KD and Kyrie (for away games). I think this trade fits their roster quite well, even before you think of the alternative of Harden playing that level of defense.

I loved watching Harden last year, as he was possibly the best PG in the league for a while. But his offense has declined significantly at this point, which turns him into a very good player as opposed to MVP candidate.

Simmons-Kyrie-Seth-KD-Claxton/Griffin/Drummond is a pretty good, complementary lineup. They are also deeper now, with Harris becoming a bench player when healthy. They probably regret trading Allen, but what can you do.

The 76ers got better too, I think. Win-win trade.

LOL @ the Porzingis trade. Think Dallas regrets getting him from the Knicks?

exactly.

his issues with not wanting to shoot aren't as relevant with KD and Kyrie on the floor.

and i'd put good money (if i was allowed to bet on such things) on Kyrie somehow being able to play home games come playoff time.

Simmons is an excellent defensive player, one of the best in the game.

On offense, he brings nothing unless he's got the ball in his hands on a fast break. And fast breaks are way less relevant in the postseason.

If Kyrie's on the court, all Simmons can do in the half court is stand on the baseline.

Our mayor will make sure of that sometime between seeking to prosecute minors and eating his daily vegan diet of fish.

there obviously needs to be an adjustment - and ben will have to be okay with not being the primary ball handler. you'd think that wouldn't be a problem - but we'll see. Nets will have enough fire power to hide his weaknesses, but we'll definitely be able to see now if Steve Nash can actually coach.

ben has the potential to be crazy effective on offense operating in a triangle between the two dunker spots and the high post, again - if he's willing to not be the primary ball handler. to not be a point guard, which he insisted upon being in philly. if he embraces playing the draymond green role, then the nets just got more explosive. the main factor that the Nets will have that the 76ers never did is space. lots and lots of space. in philly the lane was always clogged... for obvious reasons.

it's a big if., no doubt.

Kyrie is not a bad defender when he's engaged.

That last word in my sentence though is, uh, kinda the main problem with Kyrie. There's always something.

He's not exactly good on D, either - but he's shown in the playoffs - at least with Cleveland - that he can be a C+/B- defender when he needs to be.
