it sounds like you don't want to be friends with a non-U2 fan, maybe because they don't "get" them or something (i know when i don't have musical tastes in common with someone, it's hard to want to get to know them)

...

but also, you don't want to be friends with a U2 fan, perhaps because some of them can be so or maybe because you want to have some things not in common with them to make the friendship more interesting?
