All Hallow's Thread: Best Dead Artists

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Won't get into old classical or jazz artists, cuz they're all dead.

Some more body blows for myself were:

Bob Marley
Joe Strummer
Jerry Garcia
Frank Zappa
Duane Allman

I nominate Jeff Buckley for "Most Overrated Dead Artist" award.

I agree with you on Shannon Hoon, but couldn't agree with you more on this statement.

The music world owes a LOT to Jeff Buckley. Heck, there would be no "Fake Plastic Trees" without him. He influenced, and continues to influence, countless people.

Here's a group from awhile ago ...

The Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford and the recent Joey Bishop)

They were GREAT song and dance entertainers who could always make people laugh.

And for a more current artist ... how about Boston's lead vocalist, Brad Delp.

I thought of some more dead people:

John Entwhistle
John Phillips
Mama Cass
Otis Redding
Sam Cooke
Benjamin Orr
Falco
Andy Gibb
Marc Bolan
Alan Wilson (Canned Heat)
3 guys from Badfinger

Then I found this!

We forgot Elvis!

This list as Johnny Cash #1, and while I respect him and his musical influence I really don't think people who lived to a ripe old age and died of normal old folks health problems should be included in this, only those who died young due to their music lifestyle, so I wouldn't have put him in there IMO.

Bob Marley.

Yes, he's been mentioned several times.

(didn't anyone mention Brian Wilson? The Everly Brothers???)

No, because none of them are dead!

However, Brian Wilson's brothers, Carl and Dennis, are.

How about Razzle that guy from Hanoi Rocks killed by Vince Neal?

I didnt mean the everly brothers at all!!! I totally meant BUDDY HOLLY

I was thinking of the plane crash..nevermind, I can't even write this one off as being drunk :reject:

as for Brian Wilson...got me there, I could have sworn he passed away but maybe I was thinking of Carl
