US needs to win, but because goals for and against are the same as UK think they need to be beat Slovenia by 1 goal more than UK wins by????

No, it's the other way round. The US has more goals, so that's going for them. But as long as England is winning and the US drawing they are out.

Well, they would have to win by 3-0 or something like that to go through, so I suspect they're just hanging on so they can say they're the ones holding the US from advancing. I'm not watching the game right now to say who has more possessions, etc.
