Ooh poor dons.

Just to go back to last night, there's no way that the Adelaide Oval sirens are the loudest in the league, or if they are, they should be positioned better. I had more trouble hearing them at the Port/Geelong game than at any game at Footy Park. I don't doubt that the atmosphere created by the crowd is a huge factor, but the sirens need to accommodate that fact. Or they could just add some sort of light that appears at quarter time. I don't really see the big deal with this particular game, but it'd suck if the same thing happened in a final.

An umpire just got knocked out, stretcher.

Crowd cheering? That's a bit silly, isn't it?

It did definitely sound like they were cheering his injury, and they started booing as soon as play was stopped to get him on the stretcher.

I know I should get this..but I'm not.

I forgot Tippett was playing. The umpiring has been fucking trash all night.

The commentators on Ch. 7 commented on the "disappointing" reaction of the crowd when the umpire was hurt. That's the nasty side of a footy crowd right there.

Epic power-tool pavlova times at Chez Cobbler? (I know that wasn't him in the pic, a housemate perhaps?)

I'm still really baffled by the animosity towards Adam Goodes, the boos he receives are much stronger than just the ordinary 'boo when influential star player gets the ball' you hear so often.

Classy stuff from the Bomber supporters last night. Just watched their seconds lose to Port, who kicked 10.25.

Fucking stoked to see the Demons get up and win. I love Richmond but they've been deplorable this season and it's just so heartening watching a side that's struggled for so long playing with some passion again. Go the Dees.

Maybe we should all be reconsidering Melbourne, with the effort and heart they show these days should we really be calling them shit anymore?

Perhaps not. But Richmond is unspeakably awful. I can't believe we missed 30 kicks in a row or whatever and lost to them.

It's a new coach with some really useful players added to the mix this year. Their improvement is not surprising. That is not to excuse Richmond losing to them today. I unfortunately missed the match so not sure what went wrong at our end (kicking clearly wasn't acceptable) but for a team that was positioned to challenge for the top four, such a loss is nothing short of shameful. Questions need to be asked of Hardwick, it has to be said.

Why would anyone boo Goodes? He's a champion, although I know that Hawthorn fans take issue with him got some reason. It seems that Essendon fans do as well?

Awesome start to Matthew Pavlich's 300th game, kicking two majors to bring up his 600th goal. What an absolute champion.

Meanwhile, just baffled how Richmond have fallen in a heap, not just today but pretty much all season. And poor, poor Brisbane...

This Hawthorn supporter has no problem with Goodes, but I don't hang around with other supporters so I dunno what the deal might be with the others.

Wow, look at the Gold Coast, four wins on the trot now and 6-2 for the season. I don't see the winning streak ending against the Doggies at Metricon next week either. Hard to say precisely where they are though: they were convincingly beaten by Freo and Hawthorn and all their victories have come against teams no higher than 12th on the ladder, with the exception of North Melbourne. Nonetheless, you've got to fancy them for claiming at least one or two big scalps during their more difficult mid-season run against Adelaide (in Adelaide), Sydney, West Coast (in Perth), Geelong, Hawthorn (in Melbourne), and Collingwood. If they can win half of those, you'd have to back them to see some finals action.

I'm much less vulgar than friggin' Cobbler. I'd put Gary Ablett's head in the shine-o ball-o in a heartbeat. It already looks like he uses it before every game!

In other Aussie sporting news, the owners of the Melbourne Tigers have made quite possibly the dumbest decision in sporting history, and have renamed the club Melbourne United.

Good call #footyclassified

Ridiculous and totally unneeded change that's appears to have come out of nowhere (although maybe I vaguely recall hearing about this was going to happen years ago)

I didn't even know we had a basketball team.

Back in the day we had two Melbourne teams and one in Geelong. The national league also used to get prime time screenings on Channel 10 on Saturday nights.

The Melbourne Tigers might be a much smaller sporting club, but surely after the drama that has taken place in Cardiff City over our horrid rebrand in the English and Welsh Premier League, and the vocal opposition from Heart fans over the move to change their colours ahead of the Manc City takeover, this instigators of this are being ignorantly dismissive of such precedents.

Even in the AFL, where fans have a pathetic tendancy to bend over and accept radical change far too easily, Lions fans have been angry over the replacement of the iconic Fitzroy Lion with the Paddle Pop Lion, and this is finally being reverted next season.

I was always a South East Melbourne Magic man myself :)
