Better ask if they're even opening early. My local stores aren't doing any special Black Friday hours, and won't open until 10. You may not need to worry about getting up early!

Absolutely this should have been opened up to fan club members. Or maybe fan club members who did a pre-order ticket buy from them, that would be cool - to kinda reward you for going to a show.

I ordered from two sources. One has cancelled so far. Here's hoping....

I will, it's still like a 40 minute drive. If I were home, I could take the train to Amoeba, although that place will likely be slammed with people.
 
And Yes!! I also got my cancellation email from Amazon UK, with their sincerest apologies for not handling this 'thing' well. Yeah right:angry:
 
On the recommendation of the owner of one of the record stores I called last night (who said they won't be carrying it), I called another (bigger) shop that's further away. He said that this other shop usually gets a lot of stuff for Record Store Day. Apparently, it's true---- the guy at the other shop said that he doesn't know what they'll get, but that "it'll definitely be a lot." He says they'll get the shipment in today and should know if they have it then.

Kind of odd in a way, no? It totally makes sense practically that a shop that sells a higher volume is guaranteed to get a lot more stock. But in a sense, isn't that in contrast to the idea of Record Store Day? This other store is a chain, with a few locations in the region----independent, but big----and so the little guy is left with a much smaller chance of getting any product at all. It's just weird to me. I get it, but not really.

I completely agree. Of the places I've talked to today, two of them are regional chains of 10+ stores each. That's not my understanding of independent, and it makes no sense to me.

One of the real indie stores I talked to, the guy said he ordered 10, and will be very lucky to get 2 copies, if any.
 
Christ! When I came back to this thread and saw it had advanced 4 pages in a few hours I thought to meself 'Great, Mercy must have leaked at last!' and expected to find pages full of 'me too' email requests for the file. Imagine my disappointment.:huh:

My local record store just sent me a message to say they won't be getting WAIE. Any sites still taking pre-orders?

Looks like the brick & mortar store gets good reviews, so hopefully their online site is good, too...
 
I sure hope vvinyl.com comes through with their preorders. I preordered Wideawake with them as well as their Doors mono LP.

Still, on Friday I am going to a record store that I really do like and will attempt to shop there in the morning.

Tried placing an order. Got an email back that they are reserving the records for their brick and mortar store, but if they have any left after black friday opening they can ship out the order.

In other words, not gonna happen.
 
Just went to my local record shop in my town. I asked, and was surprised to hear, that they were going to be getting a few in. I feared Canada wouldn't be getting very many, let alone the little shop in my small town. But he put my name down for a hold and is going to call me on Friday. Fingers crossed! :hyper:

PS - I completely forgot to ask how much it was. I think I'll get it regardless, but does anyone know what the list price is? I've looked online but can't seem to find it. :doh:
 
My pre-order copy from Ideal Copy was $16.99, I think. My local shops said they didn't yet have pricing information.
 
Got this message from the gotocdworld.com site:

Unfortunately all Black Friday title have the same rules as Record Store Day titles and they are for our brick & mortar store customers, when we open on Friday morning, they have first shot at these. We must play by the rules of “Record Store Day” and cannot take any pre-orders on these titles…..we are sorry for trouble this has caused.

Unless we hear from you - we will hold your web order and if there is any of the title you ordered left, we will then fill it and ship your order. Please advise if you would like to keep this order open.

I'm waitin on an order from vintage vinyl it's past the pre order stage so fingers xx'd I get one if I don't tough fuckin titty I won't go cryin about it like some people on here.
 
Yeah, Friday I am still going to this record store I love, and I want to see what Black Friday albums they have, but still, I want to browse the vinyl section for some Tom Waits and other stuff I have been wanting to get on vinyl.

I don't doubt he's a geniune U2 fan. Bully for him. But to be proud of the fact that you're making a profit off other fans, whether it's by scalping tickets or whatever, is not going to win you any admirers.

Of course you can do it, of course loads of people do it, of course there will be people grateful that you're putting the stuff out there for sale at all, but jeez, don't go acting like that makes you some sort of humanitarian amongst U2 fans.
