I had an incredible time at both the St. Paul and Chicago shows I saw on the Accelerate tour. Back-to-back nights, plus my introduction to the National. It was well worth the money, time, and effort.

I've seen REM multiple times, and have loved each and every show. Didn't matter where I sat or what the weather was like or which album they supported. Then again, this is my 2nd favorite band of all-time so a little effort to see them is more than worth it.

Had it been an outdoor all-GA show in Seattle and not a three-plus hour drive over the border, I would have gone.

I don't know why I feel like I have to defend my not going, and yet somehow I do.

So I did.

Since this subject came up, I happened to look up the DAP-KINGS Wiki page only to find there's another album before Naturally. Didn't know that.

There were also a few non-album 45s released, including a cover of Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In).

Needless to say, all of this is now mine.

well guess what gang? i just purchased ONE ticket to The National. i didn't think this would ever happen, going to a show solo, but you, a bunch of people i've never met and extremely likely never will meet, have convinced me to do so. i don't like the idea, and i suspect i will feel quite weird, but i am the only fan i know and so will gladly go along in the hope of catching a good show!

James Murphy is supposedly DJing at the bar across the street from my house right now.

I just got back from seeing the still-amazing Bettie Serveert at Spaceland and I don't think I have the energy to go find out if the rumor is true.

I saw him spin at a little club in NYC a few years back so I'm not going to kill myself if THIS IS (actually) HAPPENING.

You will not regret this decision.

Well done. Life's too short to not do something or go somewhere just because you don't have someone to do it or go with.

Hey, Scums, the Radio Dept.'s newest is fucking beautiful, man. I was already going to listen to Clinging To A Scheme because I thought the album cover was hilarious, but then I noticed you repping them in the Deerhunter thread and that pushed them to the top of the list. Good call.

Yeah, when you have no friends interested in something, it's a good idea to go do that activity anyway and make a common-interest friend there.

Glad you like it! 1Blood is a big fan too. Their back catalog is pretty solid as well, but the new one is my fav. of theirs.

When I start going to concerts more frequently, I'll have the same problem. I don't know anyone who has the same taste as me. The National, Radiohead, Sigur Rós... There's no one who would wanna go with me.
The only bands I like that some of my friends like too are probably Muse and Interpol and a few Belgian bands.

Isn't this pretty much Peef's philosophy w/r/t sex?

hahaaaa

indra made a good point that probably tipped me over the edge... if you do meet someone, you can do whatever you want afterwards because you're not with anyone else. i met a girl at a gig i went to last year, but couldn't tune her because i was with friends who were anxious to leave as soon as the gig finished.
