I've been playing it constantly since I've been home and I have a night class tonight but as soon as I get home again it's gonna be back on:D

I had EXTREMELY HIGH expectations and I'm just blown away by this.

Me too!!!

I'm so glad you guys are happy with it! :D I told ya, well worth the wait!

For sure..I LOVE IT!!! My fav song right now is definitely Moment of Surrender!! I instantly melt when it plays...

I just got home, didn't get done with work as early as I wanted to. Didn't pay my rent either, oh well, got 'til the 5th. I just trucked from the office to the mall to my apt. Bought the CD got it in my hands. Gonna eat dinner b/c i'm starving, then I'm setting the lights down low, cranking the stereo and turning my cell phone off. I am amped. I'll let you all know soon what I think.

shocked as heck here... aside from two brief 2-second listens to maybe one or two of the tracks, I actually didn't listen to the leak that was sent to me from one of the good people on here. this never happens with new releases I'm interested in! must've been that much more busy at work this time around, lol.

listening to it right now though... Unknown Caller just started right now, and so far I'm glad I waited. this is kinda fun.

I just wanted to say that this album sounds much much better with headphones or a good stereo system and this makes all the difference. To me every song all 11 of them are catchy and enjoyable.I have only heard Winter once and the quality was not good so I cant really judge that but I am glad WAS is on the album.

Well I just got home and have listened to the album from start to finish uninterupted only once. So here's my first impressions. If you don't wanna read something that's not full of prasie turn your eyes away. Sorry just my honest first impressions.

here's my first impressions off of one listen. Keep that in mind, ONE LISTEN:

-No Line on the Horizon - Poor choice to open the album. I like it but not to open the album

-Magnificent is fucking awesome. I love that song and had to force myself not to skip back and listen to it again before I'd made it through the album

-I think this album belongs to Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton. The rythem section shines and I honestly think they are the stars of the album

-Bono's vocals are so so in my opinion. The vocal mix is low at times and at others he just sounds like he's lost it a bit. That's to be expected with age I guess.

-The Edge for me is a big letdown on this album. I found myself constantly thinking "I hate that fucking chiming guitar" It's become a fucking cliche and it's reached it's breaking point on this album. That was really bugging me throughout. So many solo's sounding the same over and over again on this album. I honestly hated it on first listen.

-I'm not sure how the album as a whole is getting such huge prasie. To me it's really a hit and miss effort. Some great moments and some real letdowns in others. I'm not talking from song to song I'm talking within each song.

-I can't honestly say I love this album. Can't say I really like it. I'm not sure. Some songs are pretty good, most are good but the chiming guitar grates on my nerves on this album for some reason.

Standout tracks - Magnificent, Moment of Surrender, White as Snow

Low points - Unknown Caller, FEZ-Being Born

Well, to tell the rest of you what I thought of the thing so far, here are my ratings off itunes off the first listen...

1. “No Line On The Horizon” 3 out of 5
2. “Magnificent” 4 out of 5
3. “Moment of Surrender” 3 out of 5
4. “Unknown Caller” 2 out of 5
5. “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” 2 out of 5
6. “Get On Your Boots” 2 out of 5
7. “Stand Up Comedy” 2 out of 5
8. “Fez – Being Born” 2 out of 5
9. “White As Snow” 2 out of 5
10. “Breathe” 3.5 out of 5
11. “Cedars Of Lebanon” - 2.5 out of 5

I think the first 3 tracks and Breathe stand out the most so far. The rest could still grow on me, but I had a harder time getting into the middle part of the album surprisingly.

Hallucination... amen in regards to your comments on Magnificent. I'm playing it right now for the second time now that I'm done with the whole CD. ;) I have a feeling this will kill live as well.

Well after one listen, I'm not sure what to make of this album. I'm definitely not ecstatic or really excited. The album is complex and much deeper than anything since the 90's. I kept thinking POP more than Achtung Baby. Not sure where people get the Achtung comparision. Productionwise, I think the cd sounds good. Musically, nice and sharp. Bono sounds pretty good voicewise, better than HTDAAB and ATYCLB, but not quite as good as Achtung Baby.

Melodywise I am let down. Nothing really sounds pure, good, or memorable. Here are my thoughts for each song, though I do need to listen to this album a few times:

1. 2/5 - No line on the horizon - I have no idea what the hype is surrounding this song. Yes, the guitar is strong and the song is rockin, but the melody is shot to shit for me. Gotta listen again to confirm. Also, the guitar is lifted right from the Fly seriously.

2. 100,000/5 - Magnificent - This song is an absolute gem man. It's got a very badass bassline line and drum beat going on and a ton of attitude. This is by far the best song on the album.

3. 1/5 - Moment of Surrender - The next One? Are you kidding me? I really don't know what to say about this song, scratching my head.

4. 3/5 - Unknown Caller - sounds like it's going to catch on. However, someone needs to tell the Edge that he can stop playing "Walk On". Seriously, didn't someone in the studio stop him and tell him? Again though, regardless of the recycled guitar, no really good melody.

5. 2/5 - IGCIIDGCT - All I have to say is Journey, "Faithfully".

6. 2/5 - GOYB - All I have to say is "Wild Wild West". That and the fact the song fell out of the 100 speaks volumes.

7. 3/5 - Stand up - I actually liked this song and think it's a grower. Not sure I like the cliched use of the phrase "stand up", makes me think of Bob Marley.

8. 4/5 - Fez-Being Born - Good jam, Bono's "oohs" ruin what is otherwise a really good piece.

9. 2/5 - White as Snow - Oh come oh come Emmanuel.

10. 4/5 - Breathe - Great jam, very 70's rock, but in a good way. Second best song on the album.

11. 1/5 - Cedars of Lebanon - Rubbish.

Overall, the album sounds complex, which is cool, but not much interesting going IMHO. Then again, I'm reserving the right to change my mind.

So was it worth it to wait?

I didn't...I bought the CD today and the CD sleeve was kind of lame. You can't even read the lyrics to Stand Up Comedy. Seems kind of thrown together at the last moment. Not quite as ridiculous as the fuzzy pictures of Bono and Edge on the CD booklet in HTDAAB, but not much better.

What do you think? Next time will you hold out for another half-assed CD booklet, or just listen to the leak?

I actually like the sleeve and the artwork/photos. It's the lack of good music beyond Magnificent and Breathe that is troublesome.

At a glance; looks like quite a few of those who were able to wait ended up being unenthusiastic about the album when it finally came......

I wonder if that goes hand in hand with physically being ABLE to wait? I sure as hell couldn't have and I love the album!?!?!?

Just throwing it out there.....

To those not entirely enthusiastic, give the album a good 8-10 listens first before rushing to judgment (sounds like a prescription, I know) . I caved in a week or two ago with the MP3's and liked it at first, but not completely overwhelmed After buying the CD today and listening to it uninterrupted, the album really is starting to sink in for me.

And a lot of the songs will kill live...

How would the exact time of when you first hear something for the first time effect how you feel about it? Do you think had I listend 2 weeks ago I'd ahve been blown away upon first listen? I doubt it. Or are you suggesting that because we were able to wait we weren't as enthusastic about hearing it in the first place therefor less likely to like it anyways? Or are you saying those of us who waited are judging it more objectivly? I'm not even sure what you're getting at.

For the record I will ALWAYS approach listening to and buying U2's albums this way. I will always wait to hear the album they very day I'm able to have the real thing in my hands. It's how I like to do it and really it has no impact on how I'm gonna react to each album.

Good point. There's no way in hell I could wait and I love the album. The actual physical product wasn't worth waiting for, and I'm glad I didn't.

I just want to know if anyone actually thought that CD booklet was actually worth the wait...

Because, to be honest, AB, Zooropa and Pop had great CD booklets that captured the spirit of the albums. But the last three have been lame. If I had waited until the Cd was released and looked at that booklet I would have vowed to start listening to the leaks..
