I'm not ashamed or regretful over one thing...I've forgotten everything about every clip...except the lyrics and a couple of melodies. Sooo....I enjoyed my experience and will enjoy it again evermore when I blast it out of my CD player.

No Line - I really like this. Lyrics sound good, although Bono's voice is kinda... off... to me. Instrumentation is excellent. I'm really excited for this one.
Magnificent - The title says it all. This clip is really, really good. By far my favourite.
Unknown Caller - I love the mood set. Very Passengers-esque. I really want to hear the rest of it; I have a feeling it will be a masterpiece.
Moment of Surrender - Same as Unknown Caller. Very beautiful mood created, and Edge's falsettos are great. I really want to hear the rest.
Crazy Tonight - Pleasantly surprised. Kinda sounds like a better version of ATYCLB. But the lyrics that we can hear are kinda iffy (although better than they could have been).
Stand Up - Again, pleasantly surprised. Lyrics seem decent, although I'm not sure about the little old lady part. We'll see on this.
Fez-Being Born - All I know is that I really, really want to hear more.
White as Snow - :doh: I really don't like this one. Instrumentation is intriguing, but I'm not sure about Bono's voice... and I really, really don't like the lyrics that I hear.
Breathe - Wow... I'm really intrigued by this. Instrumentation is absolutely amazing. Bono's voice sounds awesome, but his lyrics are just bizarre (not a bad thing, per se). It will be interesting to hear all of the verses in context with the chorus, which I really liked in the beach clip.
Cedars - Similar to White as Snow, except, where I really dislike WAS's lyrics, these just piss me off. Again... we'll see.

Overall, I would say that these clips sound instrumentally stunning. In particular, I haven't heard Larry sound this amazing in a long, long time (perhaps ever). But Bono's kind of scaring me. I'm trying not to judge him yet, because how a lyric sounds can really change when put back in context. But lyrics are a huge thing that I listen to in music, and I'm struggling to hear much of anything that impresses me on here. Yet.

i think you mixed up Unknown Caller and MOS....it's UC with the Edge falsetto "Sunshine, sunshine..."

i think Bono sounds really good in the clips, taking on a variety of tones...as for the lyrics, i agree that some are questionable, but they could be forgiven...we'll see.

i think the transition from Fez to Born is cool. people seem to complain that it's weird or awkward. but that's part of the charm for me.
 
I think these clips are a great taster.............There's still so much more to hear and so I don't think it's a big spoiler to listen to them. For those of you that are waiting for bono to sing like an empassioned twenty or thirty something year old with a voice to match, I'm afraid you'll be waiting a long time. His voice sounds rich and wise and gentle on these clips, perhaps not so strong as his in his hey-day but those forty-something year old pipes still sing beautifully.

Bonos voice in my opinion sounds very bad, especially on magnificent (though he only says magnificent) and breathe. He sounds tired and just going through the motions.

So far, boots is my fav.

The music is elevator/video gamish.

Ok. That's pretty harsh. It's 30 seconds. And even then, video game music has come a very long way.
 
I don't think we can make conclusions about Bono's voice until we hear the whole album. What I would say is that it sounds great on As White As Snow."
 
Regarding his voice again, I think he uses the raspy vocals for effect on the last track- he's in character. I liked the post which compared it with a Leonard Cohen song.

In general, I really, really like what I hear.

The clips are growing on me now.

I have to say I hated them at first listen.

(Mostly because they didn't match the sound my imagination had created.)

Question:
I thought beach clip 1 was Moment of Surrender, however, people are saying its Unknown Caller?
Anything confirmed here???

I think that the album is going to be more mellow or atmospherica like ATYCLB, but way better. From compairing album covers of the previous albums the cover gives away a lot.
Achtung Cover fits its music
Zooropa cover definitely fits its music
Pop cover fits its music.
ATYCLB - A black and white cover.... Mellow music
BOMB - Tried to be more cutting edge
NLOTH - Back to black and white ---- Same feel as ATYCLB
 
Coming from a long line of traveling sales people on my mother's side,

I broke down and listened to the clips. Its always hard to tell by clips. Listened to them 4 times and my original assessment of being concerned about this album with the delay has been semi-confirmed for me. I will still reserve full judgement for the whole album obviously and songs can grow on me (which is a good thing, they tend to be the songs that stay with me when they do). But right now, I cannot honestly say I'm super excited about this album.

But I haven't given up hope either! :)
