Get on Your Boots
Demented electro grunge with rock and roll riff and a hip-hop twist ind the middle.........."I dont wanna talk about war between nations"

Momement of Surrender
Gorgeusly melodic............this album's One............U2 Classic.............."I did not notice the passers by/And they did not notice me". Recorded in one take.

No Line on the Horizon
Abrasive punk..........few versions hanging around.............its the buzzcocks meets Bow Wow Wow!

Crazy Tonight
Upbeat 60's pop track era of Phil Spector..........."I'll go crazy I dont go crazy tonight" Sounds like a slogan for a tour T shirt!!!

Every Breaking Wave
With or Without You style building up layers of guitar over electroncially enhance verses............Key line "Every Sailor knows that the Sea/Is a friend made enemy"

Winter
6 minute ballad. Acoustic string laden ballad about a soldier in the snow in Afganistan. Will appear in the new film 'Brothers' starring Tobey Maguire.

Cedars of Lebanon
In the style of a war correspondent lyric from Bono.............end with "Choose your enemies carefully cos they will define you

I don't think we've heard these yet.

funny, seems like i'm just quoting you here

I think we've heard Winter - not on a clip, but my hunch is that it was the dallas.swf U2.com clip with the string section. it seems to fit. but of course, I reserve the right to be wrong. It's just me speculating.

Can a brother get a scan!!!
28 pages, man... a Q subscriber could be giving us all a huge Christmas Pressie here!

Yes We (S)can!
:reject:

quick question: does anyone know what that song on the fez documentary from 2:50 to like 3:30 is??? love that guitar

My guess/hunch is that this is No Line On The Horizon...seems to fit the description...

Here are my guesses:
Stand Up = larrystuff u2.com clip
Magnificent = BC4
Get On Your Boots = BC3
MOS = ? seems like this remains unheard by us
Unknown Caller = BC1
Crazy Tonight = some are saying BC5 although I've never heard this clip
Every Breaking Wave = another new, probably unheard song
Breathe = BC2
Winter = like others, i'm guessing its the dallas u2.com clip...it just fits the descriptions we've heard
Cedars = ?

The magazine article is not out yet. This info was given to us by someone here who received a preview email that was sent out to Q subscribers. To my knowledge the subscribers won't be getting the article for atleast a week or two.

Preview email; where does it say that? I thought the original poster had received the entire magazine.

I find this interesting:

"Breathe
Arabic cello gives way to joyful chorus. Bran Eno says this is U2's best ever song."

As far as I can tell the beach clip from last summer did not contain any Arabic cello. Perhaps the version that now exists has been re-written?

okay, just to clear this up. I used to subscribe to Q and you'd always get the magazine early.. I think the Original Poster has all 28 pages... And quite frankly I need them quite badly!!!
:hyper:

I think all the descriptions and lyrics sound very promising. My level of excitement is ridiculously high!!! I'm getting similar vibes to the ones I got in 91. I hope we're in for a similar treat!!!

I can't believe they've dropped 'For Your Love' as Edge mentioned it as having one of his best ever riffs in Q not that long ago.

Just because it's not mentioned doesn't mean it's dropped. the Title could have easily changed. I doubt that riff will be abandoned. It's also possible they just didn't reveal every title. My guess is if it's not on the album, it turned into Stand Up, musically at least.

"For your love" or "Only Love" is in fact "Magnificent" you can quite clearly hear Bono sing it at about 4:20 on beach clip number 4. There is no way a song like that could have been left off:D

For Your Love is not the same as Magnificent/Only Love. It's a different song with a cool Mysterious Ways-like riff, which Edge described as his best ever (the man is full of shit of course, but it is a fine piece of music).

Yep, 'For Your Love' was recorded outside Hanover Quay not Eze.

i disagree. i mean, from the sound of it- you could be right, given that it matches the description. but didn't Bono say he started writing Stand Up sometime in the autumn? i could have sworn i read that in an interview. besides, i hear "boots" in the clip as well. though, that doesn't mean anything since it's just a poor quality clip anyway. But I don't think it is. If anything, since For Your Love hasn't been mentioned in awhile, it's feasible that it turned into Stand Up.

The reason I think Stand Up is #3 is because the riff is ver Zeppelin-ish, and the chorus sounds like Cream a bit. Plus, we don't hear the hip-hop break that "Boots" is suppossed to have.
But then again this all could've changed by now.....

Where can you get this issue in the States? I looked at Subscription prices for the US and it's a bit ridiculous $100+ US. I'd rather spend that money on the tour.

You can find Q Magazine at book stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble . But you need to call to see when they get them in because they only get a few issues , they may go quickly .

:hyper:

get on your boots is a classic people! very pop era.wow.mix between discotheque and the fly.:drool::drool:

I so hope not. That song is so awsome. I liked the vocals on the HQ clip better than the beachclip. I hope it hasent been changed anymore.

In my opinion, the end of clip 3, where they repeat "get on your boots" several times...kind of proves your theory wrong.

the movie "brothers" is slated to come out on 1/27/09 in the UK so i guess some people will be able to hear winter in a little over a month.

Unknown Caller
About a man "at the end of his rope" whose phone bizarrely begins texting him random insructions.........."Reboot yourself, Password enter here, Youre free to go!"

is beach clip 1. At 1.42 Bono sings "Reboot yourself, you're free to go"

get on your boots yeah! get on your boots yeah! epic riff from the edge at the end of the song.:drool::drool:

ooh. good call. they do sing those exact words. so we "Unknown Caller" as Beach Clip 1 is as good as confirmed in my book.

so if "Unknown Caller" is actually beach clip 1, that means that this song follows an epic "One" sounding song.

just realized that my post made no sense, as we have know clue if the tracks are in the same order as they appear in the first post of this thread.
