While the individual sets are still available July 22, amazon.com now lists the release date for the exclusive boxed set as July 29th.

My War set arrived today from Zavvi.
Just wondering if there are a few things missing in the War booklet -
In the rare and unreleased tracks section theres no mention of the history of Angels Too Tied Too The Ground + the bonus album credits the numbering doesn't tie in with the tracklisting and there no mention of Angels either.
Anyhoo, it's good to have it.
I also have the WAR Deluxe set, and I don't see the discrepancies you mention. Not all the songs are addressed in The Edge's notes, which I just put down to artistic choice. However, the bonus album credits are numbered correctly, do include 'Angels', and match what is on the back of the slipcase and what is on my bonus CD.
And, it IS good to have!

I'm placing my order for the Amazon book set right now. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get the remasters since I already have all three albums but I caved. I'm a U2 completist, have to have it.
It's cool to see that the box set is ranked No. 3 on Amazon's music sales list, just behind Coldplay and Nine Inch Nails.

The first three albums first mastered onto CD don't sound so good to my (un-technical) ears, so I had to have these new remasters. Especially with all the extras (even if I have most of them from the Complete U2 on iTunes). I don't know how any major U2 fan could pass these up...other than a financial situation.Dev you'll appreciate them when you get them...

Better than the JT remaster IMO
Very noticeable on Boy, everything is much cleaner and clearer. Especially on the Bonus disc, the U2-3 songs sound crystal clear, as does the live content.
October is also great, and War is probably most noticeable on drowning man and two hearts for me. All are worhtwhile

WAR - Another gripe - front cover is the wrong way round with the album cover on the left hand side and the back cover on the right. Joshua Tree is the other (correct) way round.

I was wondering about that because when I ordered it my confirmation said the ship date was July 28. If it was a brand-new album I'd be very peeved and canceled the order but it's not like I haven't heard nearly all of it already, so whatever.

Sounds like you may have gotten a screwed up production run. The delay announced on the box sets was attributed to production problems so maybe the one you got is an example of the problems. Instead of being pissed about it you might consider the fact that production run screw ups can become collectors items making your copy more valuable in the long run. In a few years you might be able to flog it on ebay and make a tidy profit.

If the stars are aligned correctly, the amazon box delay won't put me off too much when I can get a couple of the b-sides at iTunes to satisfy my drug dependency. If I see "album only" everywhere on iTunes, I'm going to go postal.

I'm not surprised about the arrival date, I was thrown by the claim that the release date itself had changed. It just seems weird, considering the release date is only 4 days from now.
