Not up to Ep. 5 yet, but I'm amazed how the show has sucked me in emotionally.
It's not a perfect show, but I was barely through the Pilot or early in the 2nd Ep. before I started caring about all of the characters.

Very good so far.

I'm still barely holding onto my red herring theory, despite the evidence they're plying on.

It didn't hold my attention like the past episodes, but I had just blamed that on the fact that I was researching Dublin bus routes at the same time.

Oops.

Too much politics in the last one IMO.

And there's no way that this current suspect is guilty, unless they leave him alone, go after someone else, and then it turns out to be him anyway. Which is totally fucking lame.

My speculative opinion on who did it?
The father's co-worker/partner. He seems to have more significant screen time than is necessary, and his closeness to the family and criminal connections give him more motive. The daughter probably found out something about him or he tried to put the moves on her unsuccessfully and got angry.

:hmm: That's a compelling choice.

BTW--I'm digging new detective Stephen Holder more every episode. Great character.

Also, is this series only 13 episodes? Because I jumped in late, I haven't heard. I assume so because it would be lame to keep it going.

Anyone still watching? I think it's gotten a little dull after a strong start. Will keep watching, because I want to know whodunnit.

The last episode was the weakest, it really slipped a couple of notches down, the writing, that is.

That said, no one can say who the killer is (for sure), the cast does not even know.

here is a nice little interview with Mee-ray.

Interesting that they mentioned she's married to Alan Ruck (a.k.a. Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off) and living in Los Feliz, because me and my friend saw Ruck at a health food store there last year.

Okay, can they do away with the political plot?
If it doesn't turn out to be absolutely integral to the killer/etc. somehow, it will be very annoying.
The turn-a-on-dime negative campaigning to don't go negative in the span of 1-3 days? Dumb.

The cab driver took her to 235 Ballard Ave NW.

That's my neighborhood!

Based on the outside shots of the Larsen home, however, I can say that is NOT Ballard Avenue.

/nitpicking for fun

Cori did it!!

Also, FWIW I called the father's friend as the killer early on, even if it turned out not to be right. I was getting all excited when they were following this lead but then realized it was too soon with a handful of eps left.

3 ? episodes left.

my pick is still bumping around.
a new direction, with the ferry to the casino, a secret life? a bit lycnchian

Yeah, the preview for next week had "only three episodes left" in that menacing voice-over guy's voice.

It is so messed up to have an episode like this so late into the season.

That was my thought the whole episode: I really liked it and like both of the characters even better now, but why wasn't this episode 4 or 5?

Overall, I like the show, but give me a few hours with the series outline and I'll arrange it into a much more engaging series.
Think of how much better it would have been if we had gotten this last episode's endearing moments between Linden and Holder instead of all of the moments between Richmond, Gwen, Jamie and the Mayor. I assume those will be relevant in the end, but they could/should have come later.

Anyway, have we seen the killer? Or are we going to get some new casino character?

I'm guessing the Mayor did it, and then Richmond wins. --a guess FWIW.

I don't think it's the mayor. No one that high up would realistically kill someone by their own hand in such a gruesome fashion, and I'm sure the murderer isnt going to wind up being some hired gun.

The mom's sister would be lame too, considering any kind of motive would come out of nowhere. You want your viewers to at least be able to make legitimate educated guesses.

since we are only two episodes out,

I might as well say my pick

this isn't Insomnia, so it's not one of the detectives, so who would be the last person one would suspect??

I am going with

her fiance', the guy not quite right, in episode one or two he was adamant about her leaving

It's the mayor's aide.

That's why I'm going Mayor--out of left field. His aide would work, too, but I'll stick with my Mayor guess.

Deep, my only question with your guess is Richmond's car being used.
