All I'm getting at is that I think Wilco's merely OK, but I don't harp on about it every fucking time the band is mentioned.
And it's not like this shit doesn't happen all the fucking time. A band that's "indie" gets popular and the backlash hits them like a ton of bricks. I'm surprised Of Monsters and Men has managed to go pretty under the radar in the hatred department so far. Everyone's turning on Gotye, and I wonder how long it is before Take a Walk turns Passion Pit into the new .fun.

I really enjoyed Brothers and tried to pimp that album to people, but (most of) what I got was "well Pappy likes it so it must be gay".
Right, but Mumford & Sons will never make an album like A Ghost Is Born. They're going to make the same album over and over again. That's what I find frustrating about them.
To me, "OK" refers to complacency, not "well, I like some things and not others." I would not describe Animal Collective and Wilco as OK because they aren't (well, Wilco is now, but they weren't in their heyday) middle of the road.
but they weren't in their heyday

I guess I'm not sure why Mumford & Sons are the target of such derision around here when someone like, say, Taylor Swift - not intended as a knock on GAF in any way - is pretty well liked and even loved. Is there really much difference between the two at the end of the day in terms of their commercial appeal and general pop sensibilities? I suppose I just find it odd that certain "popular" artists are so loved and others so reviled on this forum.

Met an extremely hot paralympian this morning. And I have her number. For "work purposes".
Speaking of albums I am horrifically disappointed by. I can't even finish that new Muse album. I keep trying, but I don't think I've gotten further than 6 tracks in.
I really enjoyed Brothers and tried to pimp that album to people, but (most of) what I got was "well Pappy likes it so it must be gay". And then those same people fell head over heels in love with them once Lonely Boy started playing on the radio.
Please let me once again say that you need to get new friends.
Not because of the hype (well that may be a *tiny* part of it), but because I missed them open for Chairlift thanks to the bitch (yes, bitch, apologies for the harsh words) who stole Travis' cell phone.
Also, the singer shouldn't be singing.
Also, the singer shouldn't be singing. He should be doing something else, like farming or making boxes.

Oh shit, I almost forgot about my favorite song from the album:
House of Love - I Don't Know Why I Love You - YouTube
Listen to this one of if nothing else. It sounds nothing like Mumford and Sons!
