Got any big casinos up by you? We have one near DT and it has several restaurants in it.........some casual, buffet style and others fancy schmancy

the closet one is about 45 minutes away and not very impressive with the food. Plus I see them hiring on craigslist and my school's job board all the time for culinary, but not pastry, chefs.

I happened to go on Twitter about a minute after his first post of the day. Pretty cool to end that 10 minutes with a pic of him! Love that he takes pictures of food. That always gets for me.

went out to the culinary school today. Super weird to be back in that place. I saw my 2 chefs that I spent the most time with while I was a student and told them all about my resort experience and all about the couple of interviews. Talking to the one I have kept in touch with, she said I'll find something but not what I'm used to. Talking with the other, he said I should have stayed at the resort or moved on to another place in the southwest but I won't find anything here. He also said my resort experience will stand in my way of places here I love how being trained at a 5 star hotel is somehow a bad thing now.....The other one has a lead for me. She's the one that got me the 2 interviews last week so hopefully something will pop up soon. Oh and both said the fact that the bakery owner couldn't call me himself today was in very poor taste, especially after he told me on Friday I basically had the job, told me what he'd pay me, and then went back inside to his office to check the time off book to see if my 2 rounds of vacation would work. He should have called not whoever the hell I talked to. Jerk.

Learned that we completed more work last week than we did in all of May. Now I don't feel so bad about being totally exhausted at this point. Scary part is that it's another week of OT this week and I'm going to start getting used to getting up at 6am.

what a boring night! Nothing on tv, nothing online.....

I managed to empty a laundry basket and a box of books I moved back from AZ. The family room still has so much stuff. I just don't know what to do with any of it.

honestly I didn't really care about the fact that he backed out since I don't want to spend any money this week. I'm just annoyed that I had a bunch of things I needed to get done today and rushed around to get them done only to find out that he had other things to do tonight. I could have easily stretched my day out if he would have told me this earlier. I have too much on my mind to sit and shoot the shit with someone I haven't seen in years on top of the fact that his new girlfriend was coming with so I'd have to act interested in learning about her. I'm just too into my situation right now to listen to anyone else. There's far more going on in my life then I'd say here, as open as I can be sometimes, so I just wasn't really all that interested in tonight.

I can't believe Bruce Dickinson doesn't have a twitter account. Along with being a singer and a pilot, he's also a radio host in England so you'd think he'd be up to speed with something like twitter. The Maiden account hasn't had a post since April. That's weird since they released an album in June. I suppose I could always join the fanclub. Looks like an Interference type of a forum. I think it's like 10 pounds so what is that about $20?

The bakery called me back today to say that they decided to hire me afterall I asked what changed their mind and I got two different stories rolled into one. I think the owner is a nut and they have high turnover. I took the job and start in 2 weeks.

BUT....

there's a catering company that I would kill to work for that finally is in need of a pastry chef. I applied yesterday and just received an email saying I would hear back from them next week if they wanted to do an interview. The fact that they responded must mean they're interested in meeting with me since I've applied to a few dozen places that never contacted me at all.

Also....there's a restaurant in Mpls with a pretty nice reputation and has won a lot of awards that is also now in need of someone on their pastry team. So I'll apply for that as well.

This bakery job is something for the $$$. I'll still be looking around for something else while I work there, especially if the owner is as crazy as I've heard.

my sis and I took our great aunt to lunch today. It's free pie day at Baker's Square so that's where we went. We all took our pies to go and brought them back to her house to put in the fridge while we ran errands. I got a piece of strawberry I have been thinking about that damn piece of strawberry pie since I decided that's what I wanted. Well I just checked my to go bag and my great aunt gave me her piece instead. Banana cream. I can't tell you how digusting that sounds to me. Might as well be ground beef in there because I'm not going to touch it. She brings her free pie to my grandpa on Fridays so he'll get this piece either way but I do wonder what she's going to do with my piece of strawberry. Damn. I wanted that!

Now I'm going to have to make a strawberry pie this weekend. Of course mine will be much better than one from Baker's Square so maybe it's a good thing she gave me the wrong bag.

Friday is to be the practice day for the air show. My plan is to go down early Friday morning on a Freeway Flyer.......hang out until the practice starts, watch practice, take Freeway Flyer home.
Weather for Friday is calling for strong to severe storms

Sounds like there could be some good possibilities! I'm crossing my fingers for the catering or restaurant job! At least the bakery would bring in the $ in the meantime.

I think I'm going to get in my pj's and curl up with Top Chef Masters....although I do miss not having as much Tom on Masters vs. Top Chef. Three of us at work watch both shows and discuss every week. I Tom.

Bruce went with a paperless ticket for the newly announced Nashville concert.........GA and the better surrounding seats are the ones that will be paperless. Person who purchased tickets has to be present with his/her group and the credit card that was used is swiped and attendees are then let in. Had a feeling that was coming...........I expect the other shows will be done this way also.

Padma and Tom are awesome. I really want to eat at one of Tom's restaurant's the next time I'm in NYC or LA. I didn't even consider it when I was in NYC before because I was sick and couldn't taste anything I ate all.
