"Hoping" to release in a couple of years, but theybare proud of the songs. Surly can't be anywhere near finished if it will be released in a couple of years??

Dont know where these quotes are coming from,or if they are even true.

If legit, it's just an elaboration on his comments from the summer (or was that last summer? jfc) but I can't help get a little excited whenever I hear news about U2 in the studio. Despite work being done on other songs in tandem with YSSML, I like to believe they didn't just record a bunch of piano pop songs in that vein. But if they did, oh well.

Re-imagined catalog releases don't do anything for me, typically, but thoughtful rearrangements of songs that might not be obvious for a stripped down approach could be cool. Since they've alluded - ***paraphrasing here*** - that they don't consider albums without considering touring, it would not surprise me if an "reimagined" or "acoustic" greatest hits package would be for a run - or full tour - of stripped down theater shows.

I think I know what they mean by "series of events" but I would get murdered if I said why.

The first thing that popped into my head was a series of performances of stripped down arrangements, BUT WITH AN ORCHESTRA. Each event gets a corresponding release.

Second thing that popped into my head was some convoluted vinyl subscription series.

An arena run of acoustic evenings with a small string & horn section would be refreshingly low stakes. Doesn’t have to be just greatest hits, either. Let them throw in some rarities, b-sides and Wild Honey in so they can talk up avoiding the “legacy act” label this cycle. Sure, they’d find a way to fuck it up but still…

I think the rarest they would go post-"Acrobat" is "Drowning Man", and that's only if Andy Greene from Rolling Stone is holding a gun to Sian's head the next time he asks Edge about it.

Credit where it’s due: they played some b-sides and long-unplayed oldies on i+e. Dug out Acrobat *and* (eventually) WGRYWH on e+i. Anything is possible.

[Having gotten to see the first "Two Hearts Beat As One" since '89 on I+E,] I must concede there is some truth to that. But DM still feels like a long shot, even though it's been snippeted a good amount.

Wonder if they really won't tour 'til 2025-ish?

I was there too! The MSG run overall was fantastic and a continued shame they haven’t released an official compilation. But hey - Duals.

In this theoretical scenario, I would hope that they realize people showing up for a non-standard kind of show are going to know the deep cuts, probably better than the band does.

I don't want pop tunes anymore from this band. I feel like they've extended it as far as they could. Give us older contemplative songs, moody, dark. I don't even care if Edge comes up with fun riffs, but at least give him a guitar to play.

The one thing I love about ATYCLB is how organic it sounds. Would love a softer sound vs what we've had over the last couple albums

Yea they actually snippeted it in Chicago the month before too, where they did the first "Gloria" since Vertigo. Did you get to the Cutting Room too?

They seem to have even less faith in us than themselves re: knowing/loving deep cuts.

I don't know if we have the same definition of organic, but ATYCLB sounds sterile to me, with little air to breathe. It might not be overprocessed but it sounds small, cheap.

I'm not saying SOE is better, but I'd rather hear production similar to No Line, at least the stuff that Eno/Lanois produced on it.

Thought about it but a bunch of nights out with toddler at home, something had to give.
