I have a question about Soldier Field and band merch.

I've never been inside Soldier Field and have no clue how the place is setup. :der:

When I saw the band play at United Center, I remember buying merch before the show cause I was worried it would all sell-out. I thought it was annoying how the vendors were setup outside?
But anyway, I was wondering how you guys work when it comes to band merch. Do you guys buy beforehand or after? Any experiences or advice?

When I saw them play I remember buying a tour shirt and a tour poster. I hated holding that damn poster during the show. Ugh. I'm thinking about wearing a tanktop or something of those sorts so I won't have to carry the shirt in GA.

Anyone know if Soldier Field is setup in a way that the merch vendors are inside or outside? I think the tour shirts are gonna be ballin' so I'm just prepping up on that. :hyper:
I saw on the U2.com shop that they have a couple shirts for the new album and a couple of them were captivating. So I'm anxiously anticipating the band merch this time.

So, any advice or tips? Oh, and I'm FOR SURE bringing a fanny pack... despite how ridiculous I'll look. People will probably think I'm carrying rocks and boulders around my waist.... :reject:

In the late 80s, I was in Chicago for a family vacation, and we had parked in a garage near Soldier Field while we were off doing whatever boring family stuff we were doing.

When we got back to our car, there were vendors walking around the parking garage selling bootleg Paul McCartney tee shirts, as he was playing at Soldier Field that night.

I bought one, and my teenaged self was ecstatic about it. My parents thought I was weird.

.... I guess that doesn't have anything to do with U2 merchandise, but it's all I've got.

You're welcome.

My husband and I are hoping to make it back to Chicago this fall. We met some great people there last time and hope to see some familiar faces. I don't know if we'll be able to do GA tickets or not; we'll have to wait and see.

I hear you on the merchandise question. In Hawaii, I didn't buy stuff before the show, and by the time we got out afterwards, the shirt I wanted was gone. Grrrr!

:hmm: good question. Dunno how that will work with GA. Last tour I saw a show with seats and probably bought the shirt first because there was no rush. I think after my GA show I also bought a shirt...no way I did it before, dunno how that would happen. All I remember is the mad rush for the stage. In stadiums it's gonna be even more crazy.

And if you're looking forward to buying tickets for the North American leg of the tour,
check in on U2.com this Monday - we'll be posting first news of presale dates for Chicago, Toronto, Boston and New York.

I waited in line for over half an hour to get a shirt and a poster after the first Vertigo show I went to. The unofficial shirt I bought at another show has held up far better over the last few years than the official one, so I doubt I'll buy another one this time around. Based on other bands' prices, it wouldn't shock me if shirts are $40+ this time

Excellent!

One of my coworkers wanted me to pick her up a sweatshirt and a program when I went to the Portland show last tour. I was in the back of the floor, and I took a convenient trip to the merchandise area during Bullet the Blue Sky.

I swear I was the only one out there and even the merch people looked surprised to see me. Apparently I was the only one who could stand to miss that song or something.

how many shows did you go to? I'd never miss a song at a U2 show, but I've also only seen them three times.

But when Miss Sarajevo started playing on the Vertigo Tour, it was like a stampede for the bathrooms and beer by the mild fans. I remember standing there, cheering at MSG, and thinking WTF people? IT'S MISS SARAJEVO!!!

I made it to 6 on the last tour. That was rare for me by a long shot - I saw them once in 92 once in 97 and completely missed the Elevation tour.

The one Vertigo show I had reserved seats for, I took a pee break during Pride just because I could.

And honestly, when I went to buy the stuff, I was gone for maybe 3 minutes and could hear the music throughout the whole arena. It wasn't a big deal.

Pre-Sale e-mail =

I was all :hyper: when I opened that one!

I had a dream last night that I was trying to buy tickets and ticketmaster kept popping up with the Boots video and kept messing up my order :scream:

If my office had more of a sense of humor these days, I'd put a sign outside my cube for next week "Do not disturb between 11-12 EST, April is buying her U2 tickets" :shifty:

I'd love to do something like that if I could too

Has ticketmaster/livenation released a seating chart yet (besides the one on u2.com)? Us douchebags gotta plan, ya know
