If you think Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own should have been left off, you're on crack!
( I do agree Mercy, Fast Cars should have been included, and that there should have been a rockier approach to recording)
Sadly however, you seem way too nostalgic for past triumphs..which is odd since thats what you're criticising the band for (being stuck in the past)
NOOOO don´t get me wrong my friend
I think some fans still don´t understand me
First of all, it´s hard to put 100% exact words here, since my first tongue is Spanish
Second, I´m not nostalgic for the past, I mean, it really seems U2 is stuck in ATYCLB moment, not me ( by the way, I never liked ATYCLB )
I feel many weird things with this "new" ( although this album is nothing truly new for me, mate, sorry
) U2. First, they´re still living in ATYCLB, the music is pretty the same, they sound and look the same, probably the new tour will be a sort of Elevation II tour, etc.
Because I LOVE U2 ( TRUST ME, POR FAVOR
) I don´t support and I can´t stand this safe and commercial iPod band, I mean, no new music, no ideas, no risks, no new art, etc, etc. As a fan said on amazon.com, U2 was U2 because they used to re-invent themselves with every new album, that thing made U2 so great and unforgettable, indeed !!!!
That´s the thing most I love from U2, I remember when Achtung Baby came out, then Zooropa and later Pop, with every disc I found new and interesting music. But since ATYCLB, the band stopped to re-discover themselves, by releasing now predictable and uninspiring music for grammy, money and charts. That thing I really can´t support. I don´t know why they´re still stucked in ATYCLB, hating Pop and overrating all their 2000 - 2004 era
.
Every fan who loves The Beatles love them for the same reason: in every Beatle Album since Help you can find a band re-discovering themselves... until Let It Be. Let It Be sounds pretty much HTDAAB, in terms of a tired and uninspired band, with no ideas left, etc. For me, this era is pretty much Let It Be, despite there´s no Yoko Ono here and no fitting against other band member. Neverthless the band is alive because of their past, really. If U2 weren´t release all those avant- garde 90´s albums, I bet you ATYCLB were sold no more than 3 million copies, the same with this album ( I think it will sell 6 million copies anyway, sadly because it´s A U2 ALBUM, not for the album itself, do you know what I mean ? )
I hope you understand me better
