“We’re still chasing the white whale of songs. Some of our critics say *I’m* the white whale of songs!”

How hard will it be to get tickets? I'm single now, maybe I'll fly over and see them again.

To be honest, I think it will be crazy. Not sure how well the fanclub will come through this time, but you gotta think. 10 shows, that's 175,000. You've got Vegas, all the major metros in California where they played to more people than that just in Pasadena, throw in people that could easily drive from the 4 other neighboring states, and then die-hards from around the country. It's gonna be a lot of people that want to go. The trick is just how horrible the prices will be. That could knock off a lot of people that would ordinarily go, especially adding in travel and hotel costs.

If they're planning on doing 12 shows, then I don't think it's going to be that hard to get tickets. Unless you're hoping to attend the opening weekend. But the 9th show shouldn't be too big of a deal. 18,000 x 12 is a lot of tickets to sell.

You owe it to yourself and your newfound freedom! I doubt you will regret going.

I'm probably not going to be able to go to these shows. Not because of finances, or getting time off work, etc. But because I would NEVER be able to justify going to this to my wife. If you don't go for yourself, do it for me!

I don’t even know which songs I’d be excited for after they played Acrobat on SOE tour.

Can they please play Achtung Baby and Zooropa in full, with a mid-show interval made up from all our favourite tracks from Passengers? That's the only way they can give that era the full and proper celebration it deserves.

Yea I honestly have zero clue what to expect. I have no doubt that every show will sell out. But how quickly? I have zero clue.

Obviously the overwhelming majority of people coming in for the shows will also need a flight and a hotel room. That alone will knock some people out.

It's also not Taylor Swift or Harry Styles - so the youngs are out.

There's a decent minority of folks who will also say no out of some sort of misguided principle about Vegas and selling out or some bullshit like that.

Then there's the venue... there's a lot of unknown here with the public at large about just how much of a technological leap forward this venue is supposed to be. I actually think demand could INCREASE after the first weekend... if they were able to pull off what they say they will... but could decrease if the venue is riddled with glitches and mistakes and whatnot.

That goes for the band as well... opening nights are typically not the band's best shows, but there will be a lot of pressure to get this right on opening night.

And of course... will there be dynamic pricing?

All to say who the hell knows.

I would expect a fan club presale. The tweet reminding people about renewing wasn't a coincidence. My guess would be fan club sale starts either Monday or Tuesday, with general public on sale Friday or Saturday (which is really going to suck if it's on Saturday because I'm flying Saturday morning).

My guess would be tickets in the $200 to $500 range, with a selection of platinum level seats in the thousands.

Can I place some sort of prop bet on “Biden orders Pentagon to shoot down U2 Sphere” being all over Twitter in seconds flat?

Yes to all this. The shows will sell out but the destination nature and associated spend commitment is going to serve as a counterbalance to demand from the casual audience. I also think they’ll add a few more weekends if the shows sell out faster than expected. No one is going to be interested in…

The responses are as you would expect.

Mostly excitement, a few idiots who think maybe it'll be for a tour announcement and not for Vegas (despite the literal fucking venue being in the teaser), a smattering of ehrmagod Vagus iz fer uld cellouts, and a bunch of LARRY BETTER BE THERE OR I'M NOT GOING!!!, a handful of iTunes jokes and at least one guy who thinks this building is owned and operated by MGM.

Pretty much a cross section of interference.

@U2Songs this morning:
Word is out that U2 / Bono may be involved in an event in Washington DC on Monday. Reports are that U2 have been looking for a choir to use in the city for part of a performance tomorrow. It does not mean that U2 will necessarily be present. Last month the band filmed footage in Colombia of look-a-likes and also of fans. They could be filming additional footage for upcoming pro.

Idiots. It’s also for young and middle aged sellouts and people who never had anything to sell out.

Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Sting, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Usher, Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Gwen Stefani, Drake, Backstreet Boys…actually that’s a murderers row of relevancy and integrity. U2 will be lucky to be in their company.

If there’s a casino in the venue I hope u2 get a cut of the money rubes decided to donate to a corporation. Larry has medical expenses, after all.

Garth just had a massively successful stadium tour that utilized a 360 stage. (sound familiar?)

And then there’s Adele.

Listen, I understand some uneasiness with regard to U2 but this isn’t exactly the “fleece the olds” boomer fever dream cash-in of something like Desert Trip [Macca, Stones, Dylan, Neil, The Who] either.

You have about a 3.5 to 5 hour drive from cities like LA, Phoenix, San Diego, Salt Lake. There will be a very large amount of people that will want tickets, that may need to stay in an affordable room for one night and head back the next day.

I think all the shows will sell out within the first two weeks except for platinum priced tickets which will be slowly bought up by wealthier people that can plan a full Vegas trip around it.
