What do you think Edge is using on the studio version. I think its the Explorer I know he used The LP on Zoo and the Casino on Vertigo

Yep. There is acoustic. That was brought to the fore for the Temple Bar remixes. If you listen to the Achtung Baby Working Tapes, Salome' (various AB era studio bootlegs), the the song was more acoustic / Temple Bar mix-like in it's earlier incarnations as "Don't Turn Around" and "Morning Child".But there could be other guitars too.
Guessing that you are referring to Edge's tobacco finish Gibson ES-330; which he used for "One" (during Zoo TV).Yea there is so acoustic on there but I think its the Explorer and the Gibson hollow body ( I forgot what it is called)

But I also think that it is possible that it could have been a Stratocaster. There is a clip of him playing "...Horses" w/a Stratocaster during the dress rehearsal.

It's possible that in the studio with Lanois and Eno there were able to get a great thick sound but live, not so much and hence his switching to the Les Paul Custom.

In the clip above, Bono is playing along. Clip quality is horrible. It looks like Bono is playing his ES175, live. That is not to say that he played on or played that guitar on the album version, that is uncertain.

Keep in mind, just because it's in the promo video...

...does not mean necessarily that it was used on the studio recording. There are countless videos that show him using guitars that were not used live nor in the studio on specific tracks.
If you read into some Edge interviews around the ATYCLB sessions, it seems like he didn't touch the Explorer for songwriting since the mid 80's anymore and then decided to pull it out again for the Beautiful Day riff in 2000. If you go along with that, it's likely the Explorer wasn't used. (Side question: Was the Explorer ever in action in the 90's? It wasn't during POP, even for I Will Follow, but they did play IWF on some ZooTV concerts...did he use it there or was the guitar really unused for over a decade?) *
Second, Edge seemed to be very fond of Strats end 80's/beginning 90's, if you see how many songs he played with them and then later from POP on changed alot of those tunes to LP eventually (New Year's Day and One come to mind immediately).
Not proof that he did use a Strat, but may be a good lead.
...and for what it's worth, to me Horses sounds like single coil and not humbucker.
* Just sorta gave my own answer: Remembered he played it for Ultra Violet.
I think the pic that I posted in the other thread that shows them in Hansa studio's they were playing wild horses bono was playing his dove and edge was using the custom.....just a theory live he played the custom.
I don't know.....It does not sound like a strat song to me.....Edge did use the casino and the Explorer (once) during the Vertigo tour.
What picture is of them playing "...Horses"? And how you are certain that it what they are playing?
Are you talking about the new photo? From the documentary? Because what they use in that isn't necessarily what they used then. Bono didn't have the black Elvis Dove then.
PS: The only reason that he used the Explorer for "...Horses" on Vertigo (Hawaii) was that he was using it for "Angel of Harlem", Bono saw a fan with a sign and had him brought on stage, and the guy wanted to play "...Horses" on piano. Instead of changing out guitars Edge went with what he already had.

I said "I think" I am pretty sure (not positive) That that's one of the only songs on "Babby" that have acoustic on it.
I know thats why he used the "Explorer" in Hawaii ..... But he did use the "Explorer" Its wired that edge uses he Explorer on "Angel" now
The songs on Achtung Baby sound like they have so many layers of tracks in them that God knows what could be mixed deep into the background of each one.
True......what songs do here it on? I here it on one and horses.
