So why was ZooTV and the Outside Broadast such a huge success in the US? Huh? HUH? Makeup, costumes, glittery platform shoes, MacPhisto's dressing room, Mirrorball Man...America ate it up bigtime. Critics went crazy, fans went crazy, it was huge. I didn't go see Popmart for the exact reason Chizip says: I was lukewarm on the record (and had also just made a huge life change so seeing Popmart just wasn't an option for me at the time). Of course I love Pop now and kick myself everyday.
I'll tell you why...because that album was one of the best albums ever made..that why big guy.
The fact that people absolutely loved the album overcame U2 getting alittle to crazy with themselves at the concert.
Popmart wasn't 1/2 the album AB was and that combined with the fact that they hammed it up even more on Pop was why the tour bomed so badly and once again as somebody else pointed out the tour played to some really pathetic audiences in Europe as well.
When I get home I'm pull up some figers from the U2 live book that states each shows attendance.
