see this is how ppl on the forum should treat eachother on this forum with respect for diffences
Keep in mind, I was looking forward to Unknown Caller more than any other song except possibly Breathe. One delivered big time, the other didn't IMO.
UC has received a healthy blend of praise and criticism, and I can't really blame you for liking it. Obviously, people are seeing something good in it. Personally, I suspect the only reason I can stomach it is because I'm in such high spirits after those first three tracks.
Now that's funny: Breathe is the only song on the record that doesn't amazes me. It has grown on me since the first listen, but not enough. Yet.
Seriously I've tried. Don't get me wrong... I love many songs on this album. Hell, I even really like Boots still. I also REALLY want to like this song. I even went into my first listen with low expectations because I knew the hype I was reading on these forums were setting my expectations too high.
But, I just don't get what everyone is hearing in Magnificent that I'm not. Did I get the right copy of the song? The Depeche Mode beginning is cheesy, the synth in the background irritates me, the lyrics aren't that interesting, and it just drags on and on... the first song that this reminded me of was A Man and a Woman
Anyone else having this problem? We can cope together.
Yes indeed. And my post was a tribute to SadPunk's brilliant post!
Dude, why do you have that ridiculous avatar anyway? lol.
Ha! UC was the one I was expecting the least along with SUC after those Wal-Mart clips. Maybe that's why. But I doubt, cause if that was the case, it would have worn out by now.
Yeah, it's hard to compete with those first three. And UC manages to beat them. I also love the way it changes and gets better as the song goes. The lyrics are very good too. One of the best on the record imo.

It just makes me laugh
Breathe just rules. Hard. When was the last time ol' Boner sounded that energetic on an album? Seems like an eternity. Talk about a song building epically; "I've found grace inside a sound/I've found grace/It's all I've found" is possibly the emotional climax and summation of the entire record. The solo sounds badass too. Getting some Lovetown back in the mix there.
I'm not going to criticize UC too harshly until the tour. If it drags then as well, it will be a missed opportunity. I trust U2 won't disappoint us.
Just incase you forgot:

Heya when you post youtube vids, just copy and paste here the first link that is to the right of the video (URL). For some reason when you post videos it tweaks out the thread (I fixed them in this thread).

People are definitely overthinking this one. Just paste the video's url in the text box and nothing will happen.
Magnificent is good but it is no Beautiful Day. I can kinda see the complaints of it being a tad repetitive with not much substance in the chorus. It's essentially just that one line "only love.." repeated, but no doubt with some really uplifting guitar work! And a kickass intro and gorgeous bridge. But I rank MOS better overall.

when it kicks into the guitar part from the intro it reminds me of early 80s u2 it sounded really old for some reason something off october or war
