How very literate of you, Kieran.

The moderates, I would suggest, are those that wish to replace the current bankster bailout system with the normal democratic system.

The super-rich, the uber-wealthy, the thieving robbing scumbag bastards - they declared war on us. And in return, we will give them both barrels.

And, in the long term we shall win, because we have the numbers.

I was referring to 'moderate' (as opposed to hard-core) GOP figures, ok? You have no idea what I was saying in my post. Just complete misunderstanding.

I'm confused.

Who exactly are you arguing with here?

The overwhelming majority of the posters on this forum have been critical/skeptical of the OWS movement.

The 99%'ers in the youtube video taking down the racist, capitalist, imperialistic, corporatocracy one security guard at a time.

Ahem. Excuse you, sir.

Calm down now :wink: . . .note I said the "overwhelming majority" not "all". And even your support has at the very least been analytical no? Rather than blind and unquestioning?

The 99%'ers in the youtube video taking down the racist, capitalist, imperialistic, corporatocracy one security guard at a time.

So is it that your suggesting that most of FYM given their views SHOULD be supporting OWS blindly?

If so that only reveals your willfull insistence on creating straw men rather than debating real people.

But..but....anarchists!!! University students! Socialist community groups!

Please...nothing more than a distraction to keep voters fighting over the scraps while politicians rob this country blind. Go back to worrying about inconsequential shit like gay marriage because your conservative media overlords tell you it's an important battle in this day and age.

This chart sums OWS vs Tea Party succinctly. I'm putting it under a spoiler tag because it's reaaaaally long, albeit colorful and entertaining!

OWS_teaparty.jpg

1) What do Occupy protests in Spain, Italy and Germany have to do the stated beefs against American bank executives, American campaign laws and the American tax code? Foreign protests don't count.

2) Those arrest totals are woefully out of date.

3) Where's the stat on positive vs negative news coverage as presented by the MSM? Let's just say they were very sympathetic to OWS.

1) I think it just brings up the question/point as to why there is no support for conservative tea party folk overseas. Remove them and the number for the US is still overwhelming against the tea party numbers. I'm just talking numbers. Please don't jump down my throat. I don't even like OWS.

2) Probably, but it takes time to make grafix this nice. There is a + next to it, you know. And the number is still overwhelming versus the tea party numbers. The point is proven regardless.

3) Where do you start? The major channels + cable news. Do we include The Daily Show and The O'Reilly Report in the "news spectrum" as most people do? I think if you tried, it would be incredibly inaccurate, not to mention a differing opinion between positive and neutral or negative and neutral since tone is totally subjective. It's probably impossible to gauge those numbers accurately.

4) I think you'll find that support for protests lessens over time in general. People get tired of seeing other people waste time and energy. Even protesters become apathetic over time. Different reasons for protesting emerge as people just break off into smaller and smaller fringe groups and the message gets lost. I'd wager that support for the TP was high at the beginning when it actually was something set up as a grassroots movement, but the moment political leaders got involved, it nosedived. OWS has different issues, but in the beginning, before they got annoying, the numbers were higher than they are today.

I'm just talking numbers. Please don't jump down my throat. I don't even like OWS.

Out of curiosity, what networks, radio shows, newspapers and magazines don't fall under the umbrella term of "Mainstream Media"?

This is not a "gotcha" question. You don't have to watch/listen/read to list it. I just want to see a list of media that is somehow not in the general public's radar, yet so much more drastically in tune with the heart of America.

Out of curiosity, what networks, radio shows, newspapers and magazines don't fall under the umbrella term of "Mainstream Media"?

ABC, CBS, NBC, AP Wire, NY Times, Wash Post and sorta CNN.

Also know as "old" media as they used to be Americans sole source of news prior to talk radio, the internet and the cable news explosion.

ABC = liberal
CBS = liberal
NBC = clowns
AP Wire = boring
NY Times = liberal
Wash Post = liberal
CNN = celebrities! celebrities!!! celebrities! !!!

Is that a semi-accurate scorecard from your point of view?

To be honest, this is my scorecard:

ABC = yawn
CBS = dinosaurs
NBC = clowns
AP Wire = accurate
NY Times = slightly liberal
Wash Post = meh
CNN = celebrities! celebrities!!! celebrities! !!! celebrities! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fox News = fear-mongers and light, buttery popcorn entertainment

Talk radio I can happily cede to the right wing: they know the formula of how to rile people up, and will continue to diffuse it as far and as wide as their terrestrial radio towers can spread it. Oh, and traffic reports and sports fans arguing about trivial things.

:scratch: I'm confused. This is not what "mainstream" means. In fact, every time the term MSM is brought up, it's used to bash these very networks. By your own omission of FOX News, it is part of the MSM... so?

Very very confused. Here I thought mainstream meant that it was run by a select few individuals with a corporate agenda, sometimes a political agenda, usually with a slant to whatever the overlords say. This is media that is forced down our throats by others on soapboxes, but especially by select talking heads who claim to be experts in their field and spout opinions as gospel. :hmm:

Own all of the stations in every market and don't let any Liberal talkers get a foot in the door.

Exhibit 1 - NPR

NPR has a colossal audience -- it's enormously successful.

also, it's not liberal. it's listened to by liberals, precisely because it isn't shouty, confrontational, angry, and imbued with a false sense of crisis. it's calm, smart, balanced, informative, and requires an attention span.

and this is because it isn't driven by ratings. thus, journalists aren't under pressure to drum up an audience by appealing to the lowest common shock denominator Jerry Springer-style.

this is exactly why the best news on the planet *isn't* driven by markets and *is* subsidized by governments. NPR, PBS, and the BBC. you could probably throw in the CBC (Canadian) and ABC (Australian). i'm sure there are others. this is what you get in a free society, whereas, ironically, the ratings-driven LCD of right wing news makes Fox and Pravda essentially the same.

news, like health care, doesn't do well when it's about pushing a product.

Exhibit 1 - NPR

NPR doesn't say what I want to hear = liberal garbage

Air America bankrupt = all liberal talk is a failure

Solyndra bankrupt = all green energy is a failure (oh, and Obama is a criminal)

Keep it simple for the conservatives. Nuance has a liberal bias.
