This is NOT a casino but it has a pool and is only 1/2 mile walking to the MGM....

We have 3 rooms there for our troop; FYI, I don't work for LQ!

i am planning on going to vegas for at least one show (maybe two). i don't have tix to either concert yet, but i'm hoping to score something the day of the show. We will most likely be booked in at the hard rock, that's my favorite hotel in Vegas. If not there, Amerisuites across the street.

I stayed at The Hard Rock during the Elevation Tour, but not this time. No way am I going to pay $400 a night for this tour.

We were there on Sunday, Nov. 18...there was a pre-concert gettogether, bus ride to the event and then post-party...Were you there for that event? BAW and I didn't know anyone, matter of fact, it was just BAW,,,,I was not Mr. BAW at that time...anyone take photos?

Well I'm going to the shows by myself(as usual) got a seat for the first show and got a ticketfast GA for the second show via a broker. (actually freaking out that it's a fake but I have hope it isn't:ohmy: ) ANYWAY still need to book a place. Don't really want to spend a huge lot on a room. I might end up staying at a hotel right across the hard rock. Not the best or worst of hotels but hey don't plan on spending much time there... Can't wait till November!!:D

Are you sure the LaQuinta is only a half mile? It looks to be on the other side of route 15.

I don't know distances exactly, but that's a heck of a walk.

Myself and my GF will be in Las Vegas for both shows... we're arriving midday on the 3rd and leaving the afternoon of the 6th. We'll be staying at Paris. Vegas was a blast with the Interference crowd during Elevation, I'm sure it will be again.

Punching in the address of LaQuinta and MGM says they are 1.5 miles apart...

http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?new...untry=us&tcsz=Las+Vegas,+NV+89109&tcountry=us

I'm only going off their website information; I also looked at the map and thought that was a LONG 1/2 mile but for the price, its all right...my thought is to park the car for the weekend and take a cab if necessary...hopefully the weather is nice and so just hang out by the pool ... no casino at this location; saves me $$...

I think the LaQuinta web site is doing a little puffery on the distance -- still for the $62 price, that's pretty good. The price has gone up since -- all I see is $99. If I remember right, the MGM grand garden arena is on the east side of the MGM complex, so it's actually an even further walk -- a cab probably would be in order.

I can't believe how expensive Vegas hotels are for that particular weekend. There must be something in addition to the concerts going on.

I eneded up booking at the boardwalk, which is across the strip from the MGM, and to the north. It doesn't get great reviews, but the location seems pretty good. Even excalibur, which I think is not a very nice hotel, is a fortune for this weekend.

the excalibur is a wonderful hotel.

the boardwalk is between monte carlo and the bellagio. i've never been inside, but it's a smaller hotel (about 600 rooms compared to excalibur's 4000) with a coney island boardwalk theme. the rollercoaster in front is fake. so is the huge creepy clown face out front. it used to be a holiday inn. there's talk about tearing it down to redevelop the property.

it's a good distance from the mgm though, you can walk it.

What airline did you use? That sounds like a good deal :).

Sorry - I meant to include that! It is American Airlines - I had checked about 5 days ago and was expecting to pay about $517 total, and when I went to check out I saw it was almost $60 less! They also had the most convienent flight times so I don't have to do a lot of juggling with work

I think it broke down to $175 for each roundtrip ticket, then $54 in taxes per ticket - outrageous! I had been watching Southwest because they are usually the cheapest, but American beat them. Can't complain about $87.50 each way (well, what they would *claim* the cost would be, not incl. tax)! :)

Bought our plane tix today - $460 total for 2, roundtrip from Detroit

You could fly on the charter out there for probably around $320.
They're always looking to fill the plane.
