It's GA "line" shenanigan time!

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

If it's less than 59, something seems amiss, since he said the numbers are in the 50's and he's not there. I'm making the assumption 9 more people will arrive between his post and his arrival. Should be easy enough for someone to check his number onsite.

Charles, I've never once cheated the system. That's why I defend it. And why I invite anyone in NY/NJ to come tomorrow and check it out and say hello. Fake news.

So what would happen if I didn't join this unofficial list and simply showed up at the venue at the same time as the line leader, or even right before? Would I have a solid case for being first in line?

You may not have cheated the system (I sincerely doubt this, but benefit of the doubt), but it's happening in front of you, you have the ability to speak up directly and instead you prefer to brag about your drumstick collection and call us haters.

Don't use the phrase "fake news" either. Makes you look like a right wanker.

actually, only guilty people caught in lies use that phrase.

Once security finds out you're bringing Leo to see Bono, you'll be escorted off the premises.
The line Nazis will be given refreshments.

He already told us he voted for Trump so...

Ok so this is exactly my point...

Yes, it only took me about 2 minutes of scanning Twitter to find the information on the MetLife 1 GA line... which was started at 10 pm LAST NIGHT mind you.

But the only reason why I was able to find it was because I recognized a Twitter handle from this thread. If I didn't already know that this person was involved in the line setups, mostly due to Ian being blocked by him and posting here about it, it would have taken me significantly longer to find. Including the #U2JT30 hashtag? Yea, swell... there's a million of those. Doesn't really help.

So who in their right mind would know to go to the Hilton if you want to be on the list?

If U2's management wanted this to be the way it's done? Fine. Publish that info on U2.com now. Then it's fair to everyone.

But... you're already foregoing the main issue with this whole thing.

It all assumes everybody has twitter.

You can't just assume everybody going to a concert uses a certain social media website. Sure, lots of people use it, but that's still not putting thigns out there. The stadiums are catering their customers by emails, distributing official info. And these twitter douchebags are convinced the whole world uses twitter so their info is 'out there'.

Right... which is why I said post it on U2.com ;)

That I could agree on.. well.. if the site didn't suck that much. :)

But venues providing information should be enough. I don't understand why this isn't enough for some people... The venue gives the rules, what makes them think they're above it? Why make their own rules? Even if U2 doesn't do much about it, these douches could still simply respect the venue rules. But no, they're far too important to listen to those plebs who have no clue how to handle crowds.

I don't disagree, but different venues have different limits as far as how far they'll go. Only way to get any sort of uniformality isn't have it run by the band's management team.

If U2 said they would give out numbered wristbands at 8 am and no lining up before that at the venue, my guess is that these line freaks would still start a line 3 days in advance and then when a horde of 300 people shows up at 8 am along with another 200 who walk up at 8 am, then unless U2 is hellbent on having their security play Judge Judy to sort it out I doubt much would change.

Let's just go to the Springsteen random system.

So these people just show up from a Dunkin Donuts waving a list around and cut the line in front of people who have lined up according the the venues rules? I'm surprised there hasn't been a beat down.

I was at the show last night and the GA line was a fiasco. I arrived at 1pm and walked up to where the Gillette stadium website said the GA line would be forming. I was told that the line wouldn't start until 2:30. My wife and I were fine with that so we went and had lunch and a few drinks. At 2:30 we returned to discover only 7 people on the line and we joined it. The line grew to about 50 people by 3:00. At that time people started showing up with numbers written on their hands with sharpies. They demanded to be put at the front of the line, and a few of them tried to force their way to the front. Security repeatedly told them that their numbers were meaningless and to join the back of the line. A bunch of these people were complaining to me that they'd been in line since Thursday and that I should let them in front of me. My wife and I refused to move and said "if you had been in line since Thursday you would be in front of me because I got here at 2:30 today". Some of them actually started crying. I kept telling them that if I was a member of a closed facebook group I would have known to check in 2 times a day at a Dunkin Donuts located 2 miles from the venue. They had no answer for that. Some of these idiotic "line leaders" would try to act like they were with the band or security and tell me I had to move because I didn't have a number on my hand. Gillette security stood firm and said that the line formed at 2:30 and the numbers were meaningless. One of them said "I can buy a sharpie and put a 1 on my hand, but that doesn't mean I'm first on line". At around 4:00 Gillette security changed its tune and ordered anyone without a number to the back of the line. My wife and I protested and said that we were told that the numbers were meaningless and now we are being told the opposite. We were told that there is nothing we can do and the decision has been made to honor the numbers. Apparently the entitled assholes convinced someone that they belonged in the front of the line. My wife and I didn't cry, carry on, or threaten violence. We just moved to the back of the line. When the gates opened we just calmly walked to the main stage and got a spot directly in front of Bono with only 1 person in front of us.
The show was excellent. I'm not sure that I've ever had a better time at a U2 show. Oh, and to the guy who is bragging about his drumstick and setlist collection, I have a beautiful wife and 2 beautiful daughters. Top that, asshole.

No need to get personal dude. Dont act like a cliche vulgar Bostonian. We are all here for the band :)

Fact is, at the end of the day we would all have fun if we met at a concert. Lets enjoy U2 while we have them. Cheers!

You do seem to have some mental health issues however.
