Rebekah Jones, the architect and onetime manager of Florida's COVID-19 dashboard, said on Monday she was removed from her post after she would not censor data.

In an email to CBS12 News, Jones said she refused to "manually change data to drum up support" for Florida's plan to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic. The dashboard shares data on coronavirus cases, testing, and deaths by county and ZIP code, and is used by the public and academic and private researchers working on coronavirus models. Jones led a team of Florida Department of Health data scientists and public health officials to create the dashboard, which was praised last month by Dr. Deborah Birx of the White House coronavirus task force.

At some point in this pandemic we are all going to have to choose some risk to our health for the greater good.

The GOP are the ones who forced people into making this choice. If some Dems (and i know you’re calling out Biden) stated they should still turn up, so what? What’s the alternative ? Degrade even more of society to avoid catching a virus that we are all going to catch eventually ?

It’s horrible what happened, and everyone knew there would be health and death consequences to these actions. But these people made their choice, and I’m glad they did. They are courage defined.

And it blew back into the GOP face. They are counting on fear and bullshit to win.

Come November a majority of this country will be saddled with this choice. To risk your own health and life to vote these fuckers out.

There isn’t any other way. The bad guys are in charge. There is NOTHING Biden or any other nominee could do at this moment in time.

And on another note, look at all these southern states manipulating their Covid19 data to push reopening faster.

We are in phase 1 reopening in Ontario. You wouldn't know it by the amount of traffic in the streets and the people's behaviour/rush to go shopping. Our cases are actually ticking up a bit, they cancelled the school year and I don't see how we reduce or even maintain the current caseload if that many people have given up on distancing.

You go to mail-in ballots like basically every other state did. I am sending mine in for the PA primary this week. They delayed it by five weeks to get the mail-in ready to go for basically everyone.

Why would it be the rona dispenser? I highly doubt the incidental contact of an insulating styrofoam cup on your hands can transfer much of anything to a thin plastic tab. That is unless you mean it had a push button with no individually wrapped straws?

Ok, a doctor on CNN. Doctors are not infallible. Doctors are also not public health officials, and depending upon their field of practice, may be speaking with a well informed opinion rather than firsthand knowledge. CNN is known make a big deal out of anything.

What I don’t think you’re thinking about is that this is a card played by the Pence team and CNN chewed it right up.

A thin contact profile on your cup is at least one additional degree of separation away from transfer by contact. If not more. And there’s already a doubt to the transmission by surface contact.

Soda fountains are known for harboring bacteria because, typically, their piping and ice machines are not cleaned. They harbor bacteria. There’s absolutely no evidence to suggest that this coronavirus can be cultured inside a soda fountain.

For a doctor to go on tv and call a soda fountain a “rona dispenser” is irresponsible. Yes there are unknowns. No, this isn’t something that should be criticized. You’re just giving their narrative ammunition. Plus, do we even know if a single use straw was involved here? Then you’re adding yet another degree of separation.

@LuckyNumber7 I am personally and very painfully aware that doctors aren't infallible. It's really not something to make an argument about-you do what's comfortable for you, I do what's comfortable for me.

I wouldn't use the soda dispenser because 1 I don't drink the stuff and 2 because of germs, any germs not just covid. And that decision is mine, not based on doctors on CNN. I'm well aware of CNN's panic porn and agendas, don't need to be told.

Right now I don't want to use a public bathroom or do certain other things, and the decisions are based on my personal comfort level. This was about the Vice President, who has an in your face screw it attitude about wearing a mask and all the other precautions. Because he has to kiss orange ass.

Liquor stores were open because alcoholics would suffer horrible physical consequences if they couldn't obtain alcohol. And end up in hospitals, hospitals that couldn't shoulder that on top of covid.

We all know why abortion clinics are always mentioned.

Btw a local sports radio station I listen to has advertised throughout this pandemic for a men's sexual health clinic that specializes in ED. That was deemed essential by my governor. I'm not arguing that it's not essential. But how come sexual health clinics for men are never brought up by Republicans? I wonder if they're considered essential in every state.

The press conference today was a crap show. Dr. Birx losing all credibility by refusing to say anything of any substance about Trump taking hydroxychloroquine, even though she must know what's now being said about the drug. And the OAN reporter asking if Trump will pardon Obama for his crimes.

Ugh. San Diego County got the OK to open restaurants and bars starting today. Since our numbers were so low here and city leaders proposed how they would safely open....

I went for a walk in Coronado and the restaurants were packed. Both with seating (tho not all tables filled, but it was a smallish place) and people waiting at the bar.

While the intentions are good, im afraid too many bar owners will skirt the rules and wel have packed places for the holiday weekend.
