Did Bono say the "N" word in 269?

I am more partial to newer U2, so I haven't heard Hawkmoon in a while, so I don't know the exact location. . . but it really - really sounds like Bono says . . "like the N..ers need the dark" I don't know if anyone else has ever thought that? I know the written lyric is different of course and I don't remember what it is exactly but what ever it is, it does not sound like what he sings in the song.
