The My Pillow guy is going to pray away the virus, everybody go back to your normal lives.

He's a Trump supporter and Trump supposedly wants him to run for Gov of Minnesota in 2022. Only in America, Trump as President and My Pillow guy as governor. And those pillows look awful.

Oh, sorry to hear that, gump. :(

I'm in The Bronx. Seems the neighborhood south of me has the highest # of cases in my burrough. I haven't really heard an increase in ambulance sirens as of yet. Stay safe!

Thanks. We are all fine and are lucky to have jobs that allow us to work from home. Hope you are doing ok too. I’m in North Brooklyn, not too far from one of the hotspots in South Williamsburg, where there are tons of cases in the Hasidic community. But I barely leave the apartment at all. It just sucks to see the devastation everywhere you look.

Trump is allegedly giving the FL governor everything he is requesting. The FL governor who is one of the biggest Trump supporters among governors. The FL governor who allowed crowded beaches to stay open during Spring break, but now wants to blame New Yorkers and people from other states for traveling to FL and causing virus outbreaks.

Trump says DeSantis is being "aggressive" in asking for what his state needs. I'm sure all the governors are doing the same. I believe that is code for praising Trump over the phone, kissing his ass, and stroking his ego. While people are sick and dying.

Oh and the governor of Michigan has a name and a title, she's not "that woman from Michigan". Perhaps women especially have to grovel, that tends to be an expectation of misogynists.

What he is doing to NY is so fucking disgusting. I hope when he loses in November he is booed everytime he sets his orange face in the city.

Has there been any literature on the impact of the cold and flu on COVID-19? Does having another, more minor illness make you significantly more vulnerable to serious infection? Or less vulnerable, because the immune response is already in full swing? Despite cold and flu season still hanging around, I feel like no one has talked about this.

Apparently when people test positive for the flu they are generally not tested for COVID-19 as you are unlikely to carry both. But not sure if this has any grounds in science.

Another aspect i haven’t seen is those that have recovered, are they immune to the virus? If so is it a short immunity or longer lasting (say a few years).

This is really sad. There hasn't been enough consideration of demographics who have no ability to take precautionary measures. I read another one recently about covid starting to make its way into Somali refugee camps - talk about a hopeless situation.

One thing that has kept my spirits up is realizing that, despite the uncertainties of this challenging period, my situation is relatively favorable. It sucks not being able to go to the movies, or the beach, or use hiking trails or hang out with friends, but at least money is coming in and I can practice social distancing without external forces making it an enormous task.

None of this changes the horrible realities that other people face, but is allows for proper perspective.

There are reports of some folks in Wuhan who have recovered, tested negative and then tested positive for a 2nd time all in a matter of weeks.

There is no way to know if the immunity could last for years at this point - you have to actually wait for years and retest for antibodies.

But this is also a large part of the reason why the herd immunity theory doesn't work in this case and was basically abandoned everywhere except Sweden. And maybe Netherlands?

Here’s a lovely little reality check: the post by Candace Owens, that gzus so humbly shared with us, was dated March 28th, and in it she states that the death toll in NYC from the coronavirus, from January until the time of her writing was “only” 450.

If it took 2 months to get to 450, how long do you think it would take to double that, Ms. Owens and gzus?

Well, let’s go ahead and answer that question for you. It is now March 30th. As of 4:30pm eastern time the death toll was 914 (it is surely more now). It more than doubled in 2 days. For six hours they were recording an average death rate of one every 2.9 minutes.

But sure, this is all just overblown money grabs by local governments trying to unnecessarily hoard medical
supplies on the taxpayers’ dime.

There’s also reports that China’s testing ability was turning up false negatives and only successfully identifying patients 20-30% of the time.

Duh, yeah we all know it’s gonna go up, but once again, you miss the point .

How many deaths from the flu? Pneumonia? Heart disease? The only death count is for corona. The amount of total deaths, hospitalizations in New York hasn’t changed. Man, you guys have trouble with reading comprehension.

Just tell Cuomo to stop hoarding the ventilators please.

Lmao

once again everyone, we missed the point.

Ur reading comprehension everyone

but once again, you miss the point .

Hilarious.

Here’s a test for your logical brain. If the death rate for coronavirus doubles in two days and continues growing apace, how does the overall hospital load stay the same as in any other year? Also, we’re only looking at deaths from the virus in this scenario. People who end up dying from the virus aren’t the only ones requiring hospitalization because of it. Given that the mortality rate is roughly 1.5-2%, for every one bed taken by a coronavirus patient who dies, how many more do you think are required for coronavirus patients who recover? How many hospital beds do you think there are in NYC?

You can pretend that Candace Owens’ argument took into account the exponential nature of outbreaks, but it didn’t. You can pretend that her argument took into account more than just the number of deaths at the time of writing when calculating workload on health care systems, but it didn’t. You were so taken by the shiny veneer of sticking it to the libs she offered that you couldn’t even see the gaping holes in her logic, or yours.

What part of "stop talking bullshit" are you failing to understand?

And thus the EU has its first dictatorship.

Hungary’s parliament has passed a new set of coronavirus measures that includes jail terms for spreading misinformation and gives no clear time limit to a state of emergency that allows the nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, to rule by decree.

Parliament voted by 137 to 53 to pass the measures on Monday afternoon, with the two-thirds majority enjoyed by Orbán’s Fidesz party enough to push them through in spite of opposition from other parties, which had demanded a time limit or sunset clause on the legislation.

I know you're just posting this to be a shit disturber and suiting there giggling when people refute it, but that's a patently false and ignorant statement.

The field hospitals are always a necessity in Central Park. Hospitalization and deaths same total as last year!!

Seriously guys. I think he's right. I think they are setting up field hospitals in Central Park, and lining up gurneys on the sidewalks because they thought it would be nice in the spring weather to get the patients out for some fresh air. Definitely not because of an unprecedented increase in hospitalization.

Just your typical spring in NYC. Field hospitals in Central Park, hospital ship on Pier 90, big rig trailers in Queens to haul away the bodies...

Clearly we’re all missing the point.

If I'm hearing you correctly, and I think I am, this is a "win" for the Trump administration.
