Is it possible U2 will play the iheartradio festival with no new material?

Possible but I think we will get a new single between now and those performances.

Besides, who's to say they won't have more performances beyond Iheartradio and that Dreamforce charity gig this year ?

Yes. This is still a arenas only/indoor tour...who said they're playing stadiums ?
The post you're quoting had a quote in it. Someone raised the indoor / outdoor question again and I replied...
We're running in circles here... Glad we'll finally have something real to talk about in a month. In the meantime another beach clip would be nice!

Who says the won't play stadiums? We've actually heard stadium rumors for South America. U2 have the best people in the business working for them. They can modify that stage to work in stadiums, no problem. I don't know how, I'm not a design engineer, but they can do it.

Someone just posted this on facebook. Any news confirming this??
DJ Kygo from Norway has just announced a partnership with U2. At the end of his concert in Bergen (Norway) this evening, Kygo played the song "The Best Thing", which was written by him and U2.

Kygo has become world famous since he launched the hit "Firestone". He will perform at the closing ceremony in Rio on Sunday.

Update: there is an article about it.
Kygo har laget låt med U2 - Kygo - VG

There he came with a surprise at the end of the concert : A song by the title " The Best Thing ".
- A brand new song I 've never played before . I've made it together with U2 , he said , according to VG reviewer at the concert , Tor Martin Boe.
You got ? This served Kygo 2015
Kygo manager Jan M. Bjordal confirms VG that song is a collaboration between U2 and Kygo .
Boe seem song at first Orek had similarities with the now 25 years old U2 hit " Even Better Than The Real Thing ," as well as with the Norwegian hits decks duo Stargate productions for Rihanna .
- Much minced Bono vocal and a typical breial Bono text. Suggestions for an interesting The Edge riff towards the end , reports VG reviewer.
Check : Here is Kygo dream home
- And no matter the best vocalist Kygo 've worked with , he adds.
VG come back with more .

Good find. Glad it's not a long drawn out title. Too bad that video is so short. Something else will leak.

Given the way this is "announced" it's probably a stand alone track. Otherwise U2 would have released it first, as lead single.

Well, it wasn't "announced," and nobody knows if Kygo was supposed to leak it or not.

Or maybe he was given permission to build hype.

It may well end up being a one off stand alone single, but if it is, then you can pretty much rule out a 2016 album. I think this is the lead single.

Only question is if this is a remix or the actual single

Sorry if I were to be changing the subject, but do you think Invisible would be on SoE?

Sounds like a remix for sure.

Not unlike Coldplays Midnight? First single off album that was released in various mixes

But if it was the lead single, wouldn't U2 release their album version of the song first? Seems weird that they'd let Kygo play a remix first. Unless the release is imminent (next few days).

Kygo didn't release it, just played it at a party and most likely had U2's permission (create buzz).

And it doesn't seem weird that they'd have a single released that isn't on the new album when everyone knows the new album is coming?

That was a little more than a private party ;)

Oh of course but that's the normal U2 kind of weird. I mean it wouldn't be the first time, right.
But allowing someone else to take away the first play of your new lead single is really strange. The main act should do that. Unless it's just a side project and U2 has bigger news coming up anyway. We'll see. But for now and unless U2 makes an announcement very soon, I'd say this is not the lead single.

See if Universal pulls the clip. That'll tell us
