It'd better fucking be arenas in Australia. I'm so sick of getting shitty stadium shows where you can't see anything, it rains etc

Rain... in Australia?!

For what it's worth Oseary confirmed Australia specifically for march 2017.
And we did get a statement (Willie Williams during the Live in Paris screening Q&A if I'm not mistaken) saying it would be the same stage which means arena shows.

When did he 'confirm' the start date? Recently?

Could be that confirmation was when they thought they'd have an album out by Spring/Summer of this year?

That was during the Madonna concert in Australia. Too lazy to google when that was exactly. But I'm pretty sure that at that point it was clear that there'd be no tour in 2016.

That Australia quote from Guy O'seary was from when he was in Australia for Madonna's tour, which was in March. That is old, out of date information now. While it may be true that U2 still go to Australia in February, I wouldn't consider it CONFIRMED at all. U2 have no problem at all blowing past deadlines and rescheduling their plans accordingly. They are U2; they can do that.

Oh, absolutely. I didn't say it's confirmed. But there is no reason to think that the plans in march were any different from today. So this is still as "valid" as it was a few months ago. There is no reason to doubt it other than "it's U2" (which is a fair point of course)

I know the boys are Irish, but I don't think it's O'Seary :)

I'm moving to Melbourne in October til mid 2017 so will be pretty gutted if the tour ends up there after I leave  but I saw them five times on the first leg so can't complain really!!

So thank you to those providing me additional music edumacayshun on the concept of an "over produced" song.

Nary a blue-crack fight too, so that's good.

Plus, by my math it helped kill 2 or 3 days until August ends.

Not bad.

The discussion led me to go back to one of my favorite albums, Rumors by Fleetwood Mac for a listen... probably the era, but not much "over production" on those tracks.

Carry on.

Oh man.. Albums don't get much better than Rumors!

Is it possible U2 will play the iheartradio festival with no new material?

The commercial I heard yesterday for the iHeart radio thing mentioned something about unique, unexpected collaborations. So, U2 + Britney, maybe? Yay... :/

I'd put my money on Lady Gaga as the reported surprise guest. She's doing stuff with Iheartradio, and has a new single coming

Yes, because it's U2. To do so would be incredibly lame, though. It would basically be them saying "hey, we're now an irrelevent classic rock band, we want iHeart Radio to play our Greatest Hits on their classic rock stations!" We have an iHeart Radio classic rock station in my area, and I actually do listen to it quite regularly, and they NEVER play U2. So it'll be interesting to see if that changes. I hear the radio ads for this iHeart Radio festival all the time on there.

They pretty much have to play something new. But they could decide the day before that they're gonna pull their new album and go work on it some more, and delay it, and then just play BD, Vertigo, IWF, and a couple other obvious ones.

I'd be stunned if they didn't release a single between now and the iHeart radio performance. Not at the performance it's self as some seem to think... the show is not aired live, so it would be silly to announce a single and have nobody watching till a week later. But I so think it'll come out before the show at some point.

Which means we're into the final month before no music.

Or it means we're all gonna be might pissed and lolz at u2 again botching a marketing opportunity, which has become their specialty in the i+e era

It'll be a one-off single that will be off the album, but then when the album comes out I can include it like Invisible. I like the joy vibe of the clip but there's not much to go on with that quality.

I hope the album is so HAPPY that critics have nausea and puke green bile.

Single is out a month from today, give or take a day. For true

Yes. This is still a arenas only/indoor tour...who said they're playing stadiums ?
