Their aesthetic, and music of course, give me Joy Division vibe. Too bad the lyrics aren't as good.

Savages is going to be at P4k so I was going to listen to their album anyway.

Joy Division with Geddy Lee on lead vocals is...well...I'm certainly interested.

Don't expect too much of it. It was mainly the gloomy black and white photographe and the tag post-punk. Still good though.

Secret stuff about the band I'm in:

If you click this link here, there will be video of us at our first gig, doing a cover of Tom Petty's "American Girl". I'm the idiot in the red shirt and the White Sox cap, attempting to sing. My friend has an awesome guitar solo at the end.

Probably leagues better than U2 was at covering Peter Frampton. I don't know for sure because they buried those recordings in the same place they buried McGuinness' workout tapes.

There's some Westerberg happening in those vocals.

I always envisioned your band's singer to look like

In general, are you planning to stick to vocals or do you play guitar with them as well? I was hoping to see you play some guitar in that video, but I guess 3 guitarists would have been overkill when Mike Campbell alone gets the job done.

Gordon Beckham!

Oh yeah, I play guitar with them. There are a handful of other videos on YouTube from the same night, if you want to check those out.

I was pretty nervous (an old flame was in the crowd and I wanted to impress the shit out of her...she's engaged to some other dude now, though) and I was sweating and half-drunk, so for a number of the songs I actually just turned the volume on my guitar all the way down, because I was afraid of fucking up. We just need to practice more. And my guitar also went terribly out of tune towards the end of the set, and I didn't want to hold everything up by tuning it on stage. I'm not that great at quickly re-turning a guitar.

 That's pretty rock n roll, dude. Good job hanging in there.

Is all of this shit on the youtube channel covers or is there original stuff in here too? Original material is so much easier to play because there's nothing to compare it to. You just go with it. All of my early songs were two chord punk rock. All energy and nothing else.

Yeah, we did 11 or 12 songs, and the only two covers we did were American Girl and Rockin' In The Free World. The rest were originals. Actually, the song I'm proudest of that we played that night is an original of mine and there isn't video of it on YouTube yet.

I wrote the first song in this video. I jumped off the stage at one point and ripped the back of my jeans. The dude taping this is one of my best friends and a fellow huge Pearl Jam fan and I was able to get him an extra ticket to their Wrigley show because of this shit. So now I'm going with someone who also knows all the words to every one of their songs!

You went HAM on that tambourine.

I've written like 70 songs and here I am sitting on my ass. This shit's gotta change.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Coincidentally, "The Bad Thing" is one of my favorite Arctic Monkeys tracks. Hot damn.

Ha, yeah, I kinda want to use Auto-Tune next time. Wasn't there a video of you performing "Kite" for something a while back? I remember watching that and thinking it was damn good. Damn good song, too.

Because we really need more bands that owe the bulk if their sound to joy division.

Although I have a feeling if I was the principle songwriter in a band, I'd be guilty as well.

I think I sent some PM's to you guys with the video of me doing that. I cringe at it now because it was slightly out of my vocal range back when I was 18. I actually have a good bit more range now than I did then. I really need to start recording some stuff.

I just received my new guitar amp in the mail today. First brand new amp I've bought. Also the prettiest amp I've owned.
